Developing graduate education is an important way to train and reserve high-level innovative talents and realize the strategy of rejuvenating our country through science and education.With the continuous expansion of the scale of postgraduate education and the improvement of postgraduate training system,our country enters into great country of world postgraduate education successfully.However,the improvement of training quality seriously lags behind the expansion of scale,and the decline of social competitiveness of postgraduates leads to the devaluation of degrees.Learning harvest is the most intuitive expression of the quality of postgraduate education.Therefore,focusing on improving the harvest of postgraduate study,improving the quality of postgraduate education,and realizing the goal of making the postgraduate education powerful are the top priority of the future high-quality development of postgraduate education.The supervisor is the first person responsible for graduate training and has the most direct and far-reaching influence on the quality of graduate training.In this study,based on the theory of communicative behavior and self-determination,a model of the relationship between supportive,controlling and dismissive mentor styles,psychological empowerment and learning gains of postgraduate students was constructed.The supportive guidance style can be divided into three dimensions: scientific research support,emotional support and independent support.The style of control instruction can be divided into two dimensions: instruction and scientific research supervision.The laissez-fait style can be divided into three dimensions: full authorization,transfer of power and responsibility,and lack of guidance.Psychological empowerment can be divided into four dimensions: learning meaning,autonomous decision-making,self-efficacy and learning influence.The learning harvest of postgraduate students can be divided into three dimensions: knowledge harvest,ability harvest and emotional harvest.Taking 1092 postgraduate students from many universities as the research objects,questionnaire survey and interview survey were used to analyze and discuss the influence of supportive,controlling and liberating tutor styles on the learning harvest of postgraduate students,and to test the mediating effect of psychological empowerment.The main conclusions are as follows: First,there is a significant correlation between tutor’s guidance style and psychological empowerment and the learning harvest of postgraduate students.There is a significant positive correlation between the dimensions of supportive instruction style and the learning harvest of postgraduate students.Under the control instruction style,the command dimension is negatively correlated with the learning harvest of master students,while the research supervision dimension is positively correlated with the learning harvest of master students.There is a significant negative correlation between the dimensions of the laissez-faire style and the learning harvest of postgraduate students.Second,the mentor’s guidance style and psychological authorization have a significant impact on the learning harvest of postgraduate students.Supportive mentor coaching style has a significant positive impact on the learning harvest of postgraduate students,and research support has the greatest impact on the learning harvest of postgraduate students.Under the control tutor guidance style,instruction has a significant negative impact on the learning harvest of master students,while scientific research supervision has a significant positive impact on the learning harvest of master students.There are significant negative effects on the learning harvest of postgraduate students from each dimension of the dismissive tutor style.Thirdly,psychological empowerment plays a partial mediating role between the mentoring style of supportive and controlling tutors and the learning harvest of postgraduate students.Fourthly,according to the interview survey,postgraduate students generally believe that the supportive and controlling mentoring styles are beneficial to the improvement of their learning harvest to varying degrees,while the loose mentoring styles are not conducive to the development and promotion of their research and learning work,and even affect their normal academic process to a certain extent.In addition,some postgraduate students hope that their supervisors can integrate the supporting and controlling styles of guidance,strengthen the guidance and supervision related to research and learning at the early stage of enrollment,and appropriately delegate power in the middle and later stages of the academic process to give them certain autonomy in research.According to the research conclusion,the supportive and controlling mentoring styles promote the improvement of the learning harvest of postgraduate students through the perception of psychological empowerment.In this regard,research and training units should attach importance to the role of tutor guidance,graduate tutors should optimize the guidance style,improve the level of psychological authorization,so as to improve the learning harvest of graduate students,improve the quality of graduate training.
