The 21 st century is the era of knowledge economy,the competition among countries is mainly reflected in the ability of innovation.As an important human resource in the construction of an innovation-oriented country,graduate students play a very important role.With the expansion of the overall enrollment of postgraduate students,the problem that the quality of postgraduate education can not adapt to the economic and social development and the strategic needs of national development gradually emerged.Therefore,the improvement of graduate research innovation ability is particularly important in this context.As a fundamental factor affecting postgraduate education,the tutor team’s guidance style plays a large role in the system affecting the quality of postgraduate training.Today’s society is in an era of change,which makes the higher education field more in need of transformational characteristics of tutors to adapt to the development of The Times.Therefore,this study probes into the mechanism of the transformational mentoring style on the innovation ability of graduate research,and gradually improves the relationship between the mentoring style and the innovation ability of graduate research,so as to further improve the quality of graduate education in our country.Based on social cognitive theory,social learning theory and self-efficacy theory,this study constructed a model of the relationship among transformational mentor coaching style,team innovation atmosphere,innovative self-efficacy and graduate research innovation ability.In addition,a large number of valid questionnaires were collected and analyzed by taking graduate students from different universities as survey samples.This paper explores the mechanism of the transformational mentoring style on the research innovation ability of graduate students,and the results show that: the transformational mentoring style has a positive predictive effect on the research innovation ability of graduate students;Team innovation climate and innovation self-efficacy not only play a single mediating role between transformational mentor coaching style and graduate research innovation ability,but also form a chain mediating role between them.The innovation of this study lies in the following aspects: First,this study focuses on the tutor’s guidance style and introduces relevant theories to explore the applicability of the transformational tutor’s guidance style in the context of Chinese culture,as well as its direct and indirect influence on the research innovation ability of graduate students.Second,this study constructed a chain mediation relationship model between transformational mentor coaching style,team innovation atmosphere,innovation self-efficacy and graduate research innovation ability,and conducted an empirical test on the individual mediation effect and the chain mediation effect,in an attempt to provide new ideas for the research on graduate research innovation ability.
