A workman must first sharpen his tools if he is to do his work well.The diversification of teaching methods and teaching resources will certainly promote the improvement of teaching quality.Documentary has been widely used in practical teaching because of its characteristics of documentary,scientific and educational.The high school geography“Regional Development” module is comprehensive,with a wide range of regional involvement.It leads to students lacking perceptual cognition and restricting the learning effect.Under the background of digital education,exploring the selection,utilization and evaluation of the learning effect of the module of “Regional Development” has constituted the main purpose of this study.Guided by constructivism theory,multiple intelligences theory and “Tower of experience” theory,this paper expounds the connotation,characteristics and types of documentaries.It also combs the content of “Regional Development” module,and adopts the questionnaire survey to understand the teaching status of teachers and students in“Regional Development” module and the application status of documentaries in this module teaching.The purpose is to further analyze the difficulties faced by teachers in the application of documentary teaching.According to the summary of the questionnaire survey,the documentary resource library supporting the module of “Regional Development” was constructed,and 63 documentary clips suitable for this module were sorted out.It aims at saving teachers from searching and processing documentaries.Then,this paper puts forward the specific application strategies of documentary in geography teaching from three stages: pre-class preparation,implementation in class and promotion after class,and analyzes them with specific teaching cases.Finally,the documentary is designed to apply the teaching case of the module of “Regional Development”.Empirical research is carried out to compare the classroom performance and written test scores of students in the experimental class and the control class,so as to explore the effect of documentary assisted geography teaching.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The application of documentary can improve students’ learning status.98.27% of the students think that the documentary played by geography teachers in class is helpful for their own study.And the documentary can change students’ fear of the content of“Regional Development” module.(2)Teachers have a high degree of recognition for documentary-assisted geography teaching.More than 90% of geography teachers have used documentaries in this module.And 70.41% of teachers believe that the use of documentaries is of great help to teaching work and students’ learning.(3)Teachers have difficulties in applying documentaries to assist geography teaching.Due to the constraints of short class hours,difficulty in obtaining suitable documentaries,and unskilled processing techniques for documentaries,geography teachers do not apply documentaries frequently in teaching.In addition,there are some unreasonable ways for teachers to use documentaries in class.(4)The documentary has an obvious empirical effect in the class of “Regional Development” module.The teaching design of the experimental class can enhance students’ classroom subjectivity and fulfill the cultivation requirements of core geographical literacy.The students in the experimental class have higher scores in geography tests and relatively concentrated results.(5)In the application of documentaries,we should reasonably arrange the number and duration of broadcasting,and play documentaries flexibly according to the class status of students and the difficulty of teaching content.In this way,it can give full play to the application effect of documentaries.
