During the integration of information technology and the geography curriculum, all kinds of video resources are widely used in the geography. classroom teaching. Documentary video resources are of special education features which agree with both geographic features and teaching content of high-school geography. On the basis of previous studies, combined with the characteristics of the documentary video resources, this article aims at using the documentary video resources in various forms,combining the documentary video resources with teaching materials closer, improving the usage of documentary video resources in the high-school geography classroom.This article is written under the guidance of modern education theories such as information processing theory, constructivism theory and the theory of audio-visual education. I collect data by consulting literature material, and ratify the strategies and effects of using documentary video resources in teaching by applying case analysis and the experimental method.The selection of the documentary video resources, should follow the scientific, rational, applicability, timeliness, the principle of moderation. Foreign documentary film dubbing and subtitling need pay attention to in practical application, geographical unit, geographic reference, select material and values. Besides, the procedures of playing documentary videos are also talked about in this article.1. Before playing, choose the right time to play, do a good job in introduction and set questions 2. While playing the video, use a variety of ways to play according to the actual situations.3. After playing the video, ask students to answer the questions, relate the video content to the knowledge points or summary video content and transit naturally.Documentary video resource can effectively promote the geography classroom teaching and enhance the teaching effect, which is testified by experiments and application in the high school geography classroom.
