Research ob jectives: In modern society, men, women and children are stuck with excessive screen time. Both adults and teenagers are faced with electronic technology products from morning to night. In daily life, they use smart phones, tablets, computers and other portable devices to play games, communication, and watch small videos as a way of entertainment. After learning, they either watch TV or surf the Internet through computers and mobile phones, which causes too much screen time.More and more new electronic technology products are full of functions,so rich in education, information, entertainment and other functions, resulting in the increase of screen time, the use of electronic technology products has directly or indirectly affected the youth population. On February 4,2015,China amended and promulgated the Law on the Welfare and Protection of Rights and Interests of Children and Adolescents, which stipulates that "the continuous use of electronic products over a reasonable time may cause harm to physical and mental health",which is prohibited for adolescents. It also states that "parents, guardians or other persons who actually take care of children and adolescents shall prohibit their activities." In other words, the law clearly states that Chinese teenagers should not spend too long a day using electronic technology, and if parents do not prohibit it,it is illegal. However, this is not the case.Excessive use time of electronic technology products and excessive screen time lead to low physical activity, and young people’s physical and mental health can not be well guaranteed. The study was based on the Effects of Screen Time on Adolescent Physical and Mental Health: The mediating Role of Physical Activity Level questionnaire conducted detailed analysis and research on adolescents’ screen time and physical activity level, and comprehensively analyzed the status quo of adolescents’ physical and mental health through questionnaire survey. The main analysis aspects include whether there are significant differences in physical and mental health.Research moethods: After reading a large number of relevant research literatures,I designed the structured questionnaire by myself. After drafting the first draft,I conducted the pre-test of the questionnaire, tested the reliability and validity of the initial questionnaire, and finally completed the questionnaire.Junior middle school students in the main urban area of Chongqing were selected as the survey objects.According to the research needs, questionnaires were conducted on subjects’ background information, physical exercise, screen time, physical activity and physical and mental health.SSPS21.0 and AMOS21.0 were used for statistical processing of the data, including descriptive analysis, variance analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and mixed model. The significance level of all indexes was set as α=0.05.Results:(1)The average screen time of most teenagers is too long, mainly because the screen time and the average screen time on weekends have significant differences in grades, while the screen time on school days has significant differences in only children, which shows that the lower the grade is,the longer the screen time.(2)There are significant differences in the amount of physical activity of adolescents in terms of gender, grade and only child: the average amount of physical activity of boys is significantly greater than that of girls;the lower the grade, the higher the average amount of physical activity;the higher the frequency of physical activity, the average amount and frequency of physical activity of non-only children are significantly higher than that of only children.(3)There are significant differences in adolescent physical and mental health in terms of gender, grade and only child.Boys’ psychological level is significantly higher than girls’,and the higher the grade, the lower the physical and mental health. The physiological level of only children is higher than that of non-only children, and the psychological level of non-only children is higher than that of only children.(4)There was a significant negative correlation between screen time and physical activity,a significant negative correlation between screen time and physical and mental health, and a significant positive correlation between physical activity and physical and mental health.(5)The odds ratio showed that the top three factors influencing teenagers’ screen time were "mother’s education level","whether they were sick" and "father’s education level";The top three factors affecting the amount of physical activity of adolescents were disease, screen time and whether they were only children. The top three factors affecting adolescents’ physical and mental health are "whether they are the only child","family income" and "mother’s education level".(6)Screen time in adolescents directly affects physical and mental health and the amount of physical activity, and the amount of physical activity directly affects physical and mental health. At the same time, the amount of physical activity partially mediates the relationship between screen time and physical and mental health.Research conclusios: Screen time, physical activity and physical and mental health of adolescents were significantly affected by gender, grade and whether they were only children. The more screen time adolescents have, the lower their physical activity and the worse their physical and mental health.Among the influencing factors of screen time on physical and mental health of adolescents, physical activity is the most critical. It not only directly affects physical and mental health, but also mediates screen time and physical and mental health.
