It is the inevitable mission of contemporary education to develop students’ rationality,and speculative thinking,as reflected in speculative expression,is the key to the formation of one’s objective rationality.In Chinese language education,attention should be paid to the development of thinking of secondary school students.The investigation of the current situation is based on the status of the speculative expression ability of general high school students,focusing on three aspects: First,what is the current level of speculative expression among our general high school students;Second,to examine what factors may influence the improvement of speculative expression;And third,to try to use debate activities to develop the speculative expression ability of our high school students.The main body of this paper consists of four parts: Chapter one outlines the relevant concepts as well as analyzes the feasibility and necessity of debate teaching based on speculative expression in the Chinese language classroom in high school.In the first step,the necessity of developing speculative expression in the context of the new curriculum reform is analyzed,and the requirements of the language curriculum for the development of thinking are listed.In the second step,the feasibility of debate teaching is explored on the basis of our language curriculum objectives and language curriculum resources.Chapter two conducts an empirical study,designs a questionnaire,specifies the respondents,determines the variables affecting the factors,makes a quantitative data analysis,and finally discusses the conclusions of the analysis qualitatively.Chapter three provides feasible and concrete practical steps for debate teaching based on the investigation of the current situation,and proposes an innovative evaluation scale that can be used for secondary school students’ debates and a debate tournament system that is suitable for secondary school classrooms,so as to provide a basis for the development of debate teaching in secondary schools.Chapter four is based on the previous understanding of relevant concepts,empirical investigation of the questionnaire,and the implementation of specific steps in Chapter three,Finally,I did the debate teaching practice in this chapter,and analyzed the effectiveness of this practice.
