Article 16 of Teachers Law of the People’s Republic of China(Revised Draft)issued by the Ministry of Education in November 2021 stipulates that kindergarten teachers must have a junior college degree in preschool education or a junior college degree in other relevant majors or above.As a result,the preschool education major offered by secondary vocational schools has been abolished,and the Ministry of Education has only retained the early Childhood care major,which was added in 2019,in the List of Vocational Education Majors(2021)issued by the Ministry.Under the background of this policy,secondary vocational schools began to strengthen the cultivation of professionals in early childhood care.Based on the understanding of the current situation of teaching teachers of early childhood care in secondary schools and kindergarten conservation and education work.The authors learned that most of the teachers of early childhood care in secondary schools were previously teachers of preschool education.Therefore,in order to assess the teaching ability of teachers of secondary school early childhood care majors,this study takes teachers of secondary school early childhood care majors as the research object,takes teachers’ professional development theory,competence structure theory and situational learning theory as the theoretical basis,combines relevant standards at home and abroad and previous research results,and constructs the evaluation of teaching ability of teachers of secondary school early childhood care majors through literature method,interview method,Delphi method and hierarchical analysis system.Moreover,a questionnaire survey was used to investigate the current teaching level of first-line secondary teachers.Specifically,this research mainly includes the following core contents.The first part is the introduction,which mainly describes the research background,research purpose and significance,the definition of relevant concepts,research ideas and methods of this research.It also combs and reviews relevant researches at home and abroad in three aspects,including the research on the composition of teaching ability,the research on the teaching ability of secondary vocational teachers,and the research on the evaluation index system,so as to understand the existing research basis.Identify future research directions.The second chapter explores the theoretical exploration of indicators for evaluating the teaching competencies of secondary school teachers in early childhood care.The indicators are constructed on the basis of teacher professional development theory,competency structure theory,situated learning theory,teacher professional standards and relevant policies in China,and then the principles to be followed in constructing the indicators are discussed.The third part of the study is the preliminary construction of an evaluation index system for the teaching ability of secondary school teachers in early childhood care.Theoretical analysis is the main focus,supplemented by interviews and surveys,and a preliminary evaluation system for the teaching ability of secondary school teachers in early childhood care is formulated.The fourth part is the revision of the index system of teaching ability evaluation of preschool teachers in secondary vocational schools.Through three rounds of expert scoring,the index scores are calculated.The collected data are sorted and analyzed by using SPSS24.0,EXCEL and other tools.The index system is screened by using the boundary value method,and the index system is improved by combining the qualitative opinions of experts.Finally,six first-level indicators including "professional knowledge","teaching design ability","teaching implementation ability","teaching evaluation ability","practice training organization and guidance ability","teaching research and development ability" are established,as well as 17 second-level indicators and 47 third-level indicators.The fifth step is the calculation of the weight coefficients of the indicators for the evaluation of the teaching competency of secondary school teachers in early childhood care.Firstly,on the basis of the questionnaire and Satty’s nine-level scale,the weighting coefficients of the indicators were established using the hierarchical analysis method(AHP).The index of "practical training organisation and guidance" was 0.274,followed by "professional knowledge" at 0.157 and "teaching design" at 0.092;The last is "teaching research and development" at 0.041.The sixth part is applied to the evaluation index system of the teaching competence of secondary school teachers in early childhood care.The investigation investigates the current teaching competencies of front-line teachers in the field of early childhood care through a questionnaire survey to further verify the scientific and operational aspects of the index system.The findings of the study revealed the overall situation of the teaching competencies of secondary school teachers in the field of early childhood care,and compared the differences in the teaching competencies of secondary school teachers in the field of early childhood care by gender,education,teaching experience,title and position.The preliminary analysis showed that the overall level of teaching competencies of secondary ECC teachers was good,but they scored low in the competencies of teaching design and practical training organisation and guidance.In terms of the individual dimension,the influence of teachers’ gender and whether they are classroom teachers on their teaching ability is not significant,but the influence is greater in terms of education,teaching experience and title.Based on this,the following suggestions are made from the teachers’ perspective: strengthen systematic learning of theoretical knowledge;use new media to enrich teaching methods;establish a master teacher studio for secondary schools;adopt diversified evaluation methods;carry out targeted business training;and strengthen awareness of educational research.Finally,it is to sum up this thesis,pointing out the shortcomings of the study,as well as looking forward to hopefully future research that will optimise the evaluation index system and continue to advance the depth and improvement of the study.
