| Children’s planning is conducive to cultivating their habit of autonomous learning, developing and improving children’s ability, and enhancing children’s self-confidence,which is of great significance for the successful development of STEM activities.Engineering thinking is a significant feature that distinguishes STEM education from other education modes.Making plans is equivalent to the process of engineering design. In STEM activities, children’s planning process can cultivate children’s engineering thinking, which is conducive to the successful development of STEM activities.Compared with the children’s plans in other activities, the children’s plans in STEM activities are more comprehensive and specific, with continuity characteristics and more emphasis on the sorting of steps. However, there are few studies on children’s planning behavior in STEM activities in the existing literature. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish a scientific evaluation index system of children’s planned behavior in STEM activities,in order to enrich the theory of children’s planned behavior in STEM activities;According to the constructed evaluation index system, evaluate the performance of children’s planning behavior in STEM activities,so as to promote teaching. In this study, the PASS model is selected as the main theoretical basis for the construction of the evaluation index system. The PASS model is the abbreviation of the four cognitive processes of "planning, attention, simultaneous processing and subsequent processing".The PASS model divides the planning process into three parts: goal setting, strategy selection or construction and evaluation monitoring.By combing and analyzing the relevant literature of STEM education and planning, combined with the interview content of front-line kindergarten teachers, and based on the division of the planning process according to the PASS model, this paper analyzes the main contents and characteristics of children’s planning behavior in STEM activities from three aspects: goal setting, strategy selection or construction, evaluation and monitoring.According to the construction principles of the evaluation index system, combined with the practice status of early childhood planning in STEM activities, this paper preliminarily constructs the evaluation index system of early childhood planning behavior in STEM activities.Based on the preliminary evaluation index system, this study first uses the Delphi method, and prepare a questionnaire to ask experts for scoring and evaluation of the index system, and then adjusts it according to the open-ended suggestions put forward by experts. It tends to be consistent through two rounds of consultation.Secondly, the analytic hierarchy process is used to consult experts on the weight of indicators, obtain the weight coefficients of indicators at all levels and discuss the rationality, and finally build and form the evaluation index system of children’s planned behavior in STEM activities. The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)the evaluation index system of children’s planned behavior in STEM activities includes 3 primary indicators, including goal setting, strategy selection or construction, evaluation and monitoring,8 secondary indicators and 22 corresponding tertiary indicators.(2)The weight coefficients of indicators at all levels are calculated and discussed. The order of importance of primary indicators is evaluation monitoring, strategy selection or monitoring and goal setting. Finally, this paper puts forward relevant suggestions from the three dimensions of the evaluation index system. |
