| Reading literacy represents a critical core competency for 21st-century students,forming the basis for their future learning and lifelong development.The unified textbook establishes four independent units on reading strategies: predicting,asking questions,improving reading speed,and reading with a purpose.These units aim to enhance students’ reading abilities,cultivate their reading literacy,and promote the development of their core competencies.These independent units render the teaching objectives of the reading strategies unit more distinct and focused,and the unit’s content more concentrated and comprehensive.The characteristics of the reading strategy units align with the path of holistic unit instruction.Holistic teaching design is an important approach to implementing the curriculum and an essential tool for achieving the hierarchical and developmental goals of the reading strategy unit.Therefore,this study aims to research the instructional design at the beginning of the reading strategy unit and to carry out a unit instructional design for the reading strategy unit,making the teaching of the reading strategy unit more systematic and efficient,and thus highlighting the unique educational value of the reading strategy unit.Initially,this study gathered literature pertaining to "reading strategy units" and "unit instructional design" to understand the current state of research.It then analyzed the composition system,layout intentions,layout characteristics,and principles and elements of unit instructional design for reading strategy units in unified textbooks.This provided a basic theoretical foundation for the study.Next,we selected some cases of unit teaching design for the "reading strategy unit" and combined them with interviews with excellent teachers of grades 3-6 to understand the current situation of unit teaching design for the reading strategy unit and to clarify their difficulties and problems.Based on the concept of the unit as a whole,we designed two complete and specific unit instructional designs for questioning and purposeful reading to address these problems.Finally,from the previous investigation and research and the cases designed by trial,we summarized the experience and proposed an optimization path from four aspects:pre-unit analysis,unit teaching objectives,unit teaching process,and unit teaching evaluation.In summary,from a theoretical perspective,this study systematically examines and analyzes the theoretical underpinnings of reading strategy units and unit instructional design,providing front-line educators with an extensive reference for theoretical comprehension.In terms of practice,this study has designed two complete units of reading strategy units,which not only include the design of the overall teaching framework of the units but also design 6-8 specific lessons in each unit based on the concept of overall unit teaching,including lesson objectives and main activities,which can provide front-line teachers with strong operational examples of unit teaching design. |
