To meet the demand of the new elementary education curriculum reform and students’ self-development,take advantage of students’ self-independency and selfdevelopment,lay the foundation of biology science for students,activate students’ potential in science inquiry,and raise students’ innovation as well as quality of biology science,the importance and necessity of botany expanding teaching in junior high school are gradually highlighted.The expanding teaching combined with the advanced education botany textbook can improve not only the teachers’ professional skills but also students’ interests in learning biology science,cultivate students’ scientific literacy,which suits for further education and development of students.This paper focuses on analyzing the methods and contents of teachers using expanding teaching,taking Botany(Ma Wiling Edition)as an example,in the junior biology class.Through the design of teacher questionnaires,the status quo of junior biology botany teaching can be analyzed,and the problems and reasons during the botany expanding teaching process in junior biology class can be found.Subsequently,through the statistical analysis of the knowledge sections and chapters of the junior high school biology textbook related to Botany(Ma Weiliang Edition),and combining the statistical analysis of quizzes related to botany from 2017 to 2021 in the Beijing Junior Biology Examination Paper and the National Middle School Biology League Examination Paper,the knowledge design of botany developinglearning in junior biology class can be carried out.Finally,by completing the practice cases of botany expanding teaching and interviewing the relevant students involved in this teaching process,the result can be preliminarily evaluated.Although the current situation of expanding teaching in botany is not very optimistic,the result of the study also shows the support of expanding teaching from teachers despite the fact that some of them are not very clear about how to initiate it.The advanced education botany textbook is deeply penetrated in junior high school biology textbooks,teachers should make use of the advanced education botany textbook to supplement the knowledge lacking in textbooks and solve the problems come up with by students.The number and proportion of questions related to the advanced education botany textbook are gradually increasing.After the teaching practice,both the students’ feedback in class and learning effectiveness present positive,and changes compared with before are taking place that the attitude towards biology learning is corrected,and the interests in biology learning is increased on which the further demand for biology learning is built.Teachers should make use of the advanced education botany textbook to supplement the knowledge lacking in junior high school biology textbooks and solve the problems come up with by students in textbooks.Attention should be paid to the linked knowledge section between the advanced education botany textbook and the junior biology textbooks when students have biology science requirements for further education or development.Therefore,it is an inevitable trend to put the botany expanding teaching in progress in junior biology class,also it is a positive way for personnel training of biology science and the teaching developing in middle school,adapting to the requirements of biology teaching of the new era,and laying a good foundation for raising biological talents.
