Since 2001, the eighth basic education course reform has been spread around China. The objective of this course reform is to historically change the primary and middle school course from discipline-oriented and knowledge-oriented to paying attention to each student's development.The textbook reform is one of specific refection of course reform. Textbook, the book for teaching, is compiled based on course criteria to systemically reflect the discipline contents, is recognized by textbook system, is teaching material book with administration and professional authority, and is the most representative core teaching material. Teaching materials play an important role in the whole course system. Teaching materials are the carrier of the course, the embodiment of course criteria. They are the basic accordance and important tools for teaching activities. Textbooks reform is the core content and important link of course reform. The Biology teaching materials in China have developed from"one outline one book","one outline many books"to more than 10 sets of teaching materials, namely"many outlines many books", which are suitable for different regions. Materials preparation also develops from single department system to department system, small comprehensive system, big comprehensive system, and the trend is increasingly developed to comprehensive system.For the purpose to know better about the new textbooks trial use status under the new course reform, to improve teaching material quality, and let the new textbook better reflect new course reform spirit, I compare and study the Biology Volume Seven old and new textbooks published by the People's Education Publishing House. The study objective is to help teachers to study textbooks from the course value overall perspective and in more depth, to better implement new course reform spirit. Meanwhile, by surveying and studying whether or not the new prepared junior Biology Volume 7A textbook is in line with the current course reform requirements and the Chinese situation, to further improve and revise the Chinese junior high school biology teaching material providing some practical information and suggestion.This article first study the biology teaching material development process in China, analyze the biology teaching material construction and development and the current status of biology teaching in China. From the perspectives such as framework structure, course objective, content prepared system, structure feature, contents, section setup, literary expression, exercise, page design to compare study the old and new Biology Volume 7 textbook published by the People's Education Publishing House, at the same time, using questionnaire to survey the new textbook use status, to investigate the four dimensions i.e. the biology discipline concept design, teaching target, content, textbooks'attention on students individual. The article study methodologies are mainly literature study, comparison, questionnaire, statistics, analysis and observation methodologies.The new textbook preparation is the accumulation of hard work from a great deal of education theory professionals and teachers, is the achievement of collective wisdom. Through my survey and study, obtaining many teachers'feedbacks and comments, from which discover some common situation and existing issues reflected by the teachers, which are the authentic evaluation on the new textbook. Hope that such suggestions will be useful for further improving the new textbook preparation. By this investigation and study, we have an overall understanding on the new textbook, first, the new textbook will be example of teaching and learning combined into one; second, the selection of the contents is scientific and reasonable; third, the new one emphasize on training of science quality, promote the students integrated capability; fourth, the new one pay attention to pictures and literary format. My suggestions to the new textbook: first, increase the educational contents of science history; second, incorporate more science and humane spirit in the text; third, increase the diversity of plantation examples and testing materials; fourth, increase the flexibility of page design; fifth, the textbook will be made by good quality paper and hard cover.
