The new complex international economic environment has brought severe challenges to China’s economic development.Events such as the global financial crisis in 2008,the Trump administration’s tariff trade war in 2018,and the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2019 have all impacted the international demand market, and China’s investment and export have encountered obstacles. Therefore,in the absence of external economic growth drivers for export and investment, expanding domestic demand has become an important endogenous driving force to solve overcapacity and alleviate the structural problems of imbalance between supply and demand and promote economic development under the background of weak international demand. How to expand domestic demand, how to establish long-term consumption mechanism and promote consumption upgrade has become the focus of academic researchers and policy makers. On the other hand, with the prevalence of feminism in the world, the role of women in traditional Chinese families has changed quietly.Women are no longer the dependants of the family, but gradually begin to participate in family management and decision-making.Studies focusing on women’s initiative over consumption in household, whether women`s relative power makes consumption of public goods increase or the consumption of male personal items decrease or family consumption structure optimize, have positive affects. These includes verifying the existence of China’s overall household model, promoting the overall level of consumption in society and changing the overall consumption structure. It will also help accelerate the realization of the "rural revitalization","common prosperity" and "Centenary Goals".Therefore, this study has a glimpse of theories and practice which draws importance. This study is a theoretical and empirical study on the influence of female family power on family consumption level and consumption structure. In terms of theoretical research, this paper explores how women`s power affects consumption decisions under resource constraints through the static whole family model, and proposes research hypotheses based on the relevant theories of biology, sociology and economics on female altruism.Empirical research, this article uses the data of China Family Panel Studies in 2012 on the basis of regression, the heterogeneity regression between urban and rural households, high and low income families, south and north families. Then the study is analyzed on the basis of the solid model test, and deal with endogenous problems, which successfully verify the influence of the women`s power on consumption level and structure in Chinese families. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows: compared with women in traditional society, women`s power in family is significantly improved, and there are differences between urban and rural areas; The improvement of women’s family power significantly increases the expenditure on public goods and reduces the expenditure on tobacco and alcohol;Logarithmic regression coefficient of beauty spending is not significant, but the regression coefficient of beauty expenditure ratios of total consumption is significant, however the value is far lower than the regression coefficient of public spending, which contains the facts —Chinese women are still loyal to traditional customs and social ethics, which rather than improve their benefits, they tend to reduce man`s personal goods and allocate more resources on the public goods. The innovations embodied in this paper are the research theme focuses on women in the family power, the study uses the large-scale national sample data, which explains changes of Chinese female relative power within the family influence on household consumption level and consumption structure. From the perspective of gender relative power, the study discusses the decision model of the consumption of the "black box",deepen and enrich relative researches.
