| Scientific thinking in high school physics core literacy plays a crucial role in students’ understanding of the nature of physics. The process of developing scientific thinking is a long and complex one.In teaching practice, students’ scientific thinking can be developed by cultivating their higher-order thinking skills. In the specific teaching process,we should focus on the deep understanding and application of core concepts and laws, and use the systematic and holistic characteristics of the unit teaching design to improve students’ higher-order thinking skills in order to achieve the goal of developing students’ scientific thinking. The main research work accomplished in this paper, using the literature analysis method, interview method, and questionnaire method,is as follows:First, the current status of research on scientific thinking,higher-order thinking was analyzed using the literature analysis method, and it was found that most scholars have conducted independent research on scientific thinking, and there are fewer studies combining both with higher-order thinking skills and physics subjects,so in-depth research can be conducted in this area.At the same time, the concepts of scientific thinking and higher-order thinking skills are defined.Based on constructivist learning theory, this paper proposes teaching strategies to promote students’ meaningful learning;through higher-order learning theory,it realizes the role of higher-order learning in promoting students’ thinking development;based on Dewey’s thinking and teaching theory,it clarifies the development process from thinking to teaching.Second, the specific dimensions of the questionnaire for high school students’ higher-order thinking skills in physics were developed based on the theories related to higher-order thinking by Chih-Hsien Chung.Accordingly, the questionnaire was developed to find out the current status of high school students’ higher-order thinking skills in physics. The survey results showed that the physics higher-order thinking ability of high school students needs to be improved.Meanwhile, interviews were conducted with front-line teachers to get a comprehensive understanding of the current status of students’ higher-order thinking skills at different stages and to provide opinions on the design of teaching strategies for reference. Therefore, this paper uses the ADDIE model as the basis to design a participatory unit teaching model of scientific thinking and introduces the specific process of the unit teaching. Finally, the unit "Description of Motion" is used as an example to design a higher-order thinking participatory unit, and is applied to the actual teaching process to complete the teaching practice.During the teaching practice, students’ performance is observed, and after the practice is completed, the effectiveness of the unit teaching is evaluated. The results show that the higher-order thinking participatory unit teaching design can develop students’ scientific thinking, mainly in four aspects: model construction, scientific reasoning, scientific argumentation, and questioning and innovation. After the study was completed, the research results were summarized, the shortcomings of the research process were reflected on,and the future of the study was anticipated. |
