Parents play a key and important role in the growth and development of students.The lower grade stage of primary school is the beginning of basic education and the stage for the formation of students’ values,outlook on life and world outlook.Therefore,it is particularly necessary to explore the current situation and influencing factors of parents’ participation in school education of lower grade students in primary schools,solve the existing practical problems and promote the effective participation of parents.In this study,parents of students in Grades 1-2 in A Primary School were selected as the research objects.Based on relevant studies of other researchers and six forms of home-school cooperation practice by Epstein,questionnaires were prepared by ourselves,assisted by interviews,the present situation of parents’ participation in school education of students in lower grades of A primary school was investigated from two aspects of parents’ participation attitude and behavior.The results show that the overall degree of parents’ participation behavior is low,and the participation behavior lags behind the participation intention;In the process of participation,there is a certain degree of imbalance in family education function and a certain degree of absence in father’s participation,there is also a lack of effective communication between parents and teachers.From the overlapping influence threshold theory and social capital theory,this study expounds and analyzes the current situation and influencing factors of parent participation and finds that the factors affecting parent participation are mainly manifested as the gender of students,academic performance,health status,educational level and income level of parents,and the factors affecting parent participation are also the attitude of school teachers and the novelty of school activities.To improve the degree of parental participation,it is necessary to enhance the cognition and ability of parental participation,optimize the way and mechanism of parental participation,optimize the way and mechanism of parental participation,and perfect the system and mode of parental participation,so as to improve the level and behavioral degree of parents’ participation in school education,improve the current situation of parents’ participation in school education,and form a joint educational force.
