This study is to research the effect of STEM project-based learning method in junior middle schools.Two second-year classes in a public junior high school in Beijing were selected as the research objects for this study,and a four-month quasiexperimental study was conducted.One class served as the experimental group and received a four-month STEM project-based education,mainly in physics subjects,in which PBL was used as the education mode.The other class served as the control group and accepted the conventional education with a focus on knowledge learning.The study found that STEM project-based education has improved both middle school students’ disciplinary knowledge and their abilities,and can increase students’ interest and initiative in learning.The study suggested that strong policy support for STEM projectbased education should be provided.Teachers must improve their professional knowledge of STEM and their abilities and the STEM project-based teaching methods should be added to the teachers’ continuing education system,so as to encourage teachers to conduct the STEM project-based education among students and increase the proportion of STEM project-based education in traditional education.At the same time,the integration of STEM project-based education with traditional disciplines should be boosted and curriculum standards should be revised.A part of teaching content of STEM project-based education should be involved in the relevant evaluation system,with process...
