In 2014,the State Council promulgated the "Implementation Opinions on Deepening the Reform of the Examination and Enrollment System",marking the official launch of a new round of college entrance examination reform.In 2019,Hunan Province,as one of the eight provinces and cities in the third batch of reform pilots,fully implemented a new college entrance examination plan that is different from the "3+1+2" model of the previous two rounds.The new college entrance examination reform is both an opportunity and a challenge.The self-selected subjects emphasize the individual development of students and pay attention to the individual differences of students,but it also challenges students to select subjects.County high schools shoulder an important mission in promoting highquality and balanced development of education and rural revitalization strategies.However,compared with economically and culturally developed areas,there is a gap in the development of county high schools.There are still many difficulties in whether the students of county high schools can choose subjects scientifically and rationally by combining various factors.Therefore,it is the logical starting point of this research to explore the subject selection dilemma of high school students in the county area,and it also has good practical significance and social value.This study takes the students of three ordinary high schools in X county of Hunan Province as the object of investigation.Through the methods of questionnaire and interview,this study makes an in-depth field investigation on the actual situation of the independent choice of subjects of ordinary high school students in the county,finds out various problems hidden in the process of independent choice of subjects,deeply analyzes the causes of the problems,and puts forward constructive opinions or feasible measures on the basis of preliminary research and analysis.The study found that some students failed to fully understand the essence of the reform and subject selection of the new college entrance examination,the fuzziness of senior high school students’ self-cognition and subject selection consideration,the difficulty for students to fully comply with their own specialties and interests in subject selection,and the limited subject selection guidance that students can obtain.Based on the analysis of the problems,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions from four levels,mainly including: the education administrative department should strengthen the top-level design,improve the overall allocation of educational resources,and give policy preference to weak areas to promote educational equity;Colleges and universities should deepen the reform of talent training mode,promote the management mechanism based on big data,strengthen the information exchange with senior high schools,and promote the reform of the new college entrance examination;High school should carry out systematic planning,reshape the pattern of career education,improve teachers’ professional quality,deeply promote the reform of teaching organization form,and strengthen the guidance of students’ subject selection to meet the needs of students’ subject selection;Students should improve their career cognition,clarify their self-orientation,find points of interest,cultivate their own expertise,develop good learning habits and be willing to ask for advice from others.It is expected that the relevant analysis and suggestions of this study can provide some help for the smooth implementation of the "3+ 1 + 2" selective examination model in Hunan Province.
