In 2020,when the COVID-19 outbreak broke out,the Chinese people made great achievements in the fight against the epidemic.During this period,the mainstream media carried out rich media image construction to fight against the epidemic groups.This paper analyzes the image construction practice of People’s Daily microblog,a new mainstream media,for social groups,which has theoretical significance to improve and optimize the image construction model of social groups,and practical significance to help improve the ability to deal with public health emergencies.Based on the data source of COVID-19 reports on People’s Daily microblog from January 20 to April 8,2020,corp-based critical discourse analysis method,content analysis method and text analysis method are used to analyze them from three levels: micro discourse,medium discourse practice and macro social context.Through corpus data quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis,the text study on major public health emergencies in the stages of life cycle,the People’s Daily microblog is given priority to with positive propaganda to construct the "retrograde feature in the medical community" and "The heroic people of Hubei and wuhan",multidimensional and dynamic changes of various social groups.The discourse practice of constructing social group image adopts the discourse strategy of comprehensive pluralism,group-specific and subject-specific,constructing social group image at multiple levels and from multiple angles,utilizing pluralistic discourse system and forming strong resultant force of image construction.At the same time,the research found that the People’s Daily microblog has some problems,such as insufficient and uneven image construction of some key social groups,relatively flat image of social groups,relatively weak meaning and connotation of text discourse,and insufficient supervision of public opinion on social group image.Therefore,this study proposes to strengthen the overall consciousness of social group image construction,adopt three-dimensional image construction strategy,strengthen the meaning and connotation of text discourse,and unify the positive publicity and public opinion supervision optimization strategy.
