| In recent years,as the size of China’s elderly population continues to grow,the proportion of elderly dependents and the demand for social welfare services will continue to increase,bringing a series of new challenges to China’s ageing society and seriously threatening the sustainable development of China’s ageing society.Community volunteering is an important way for the elderly to actively participate in social activities to alleviate the problem of the ageing population.Participation in community volunteering not only helps the elderly to realize their self-worth,but also reduces social pressure.However,current urban volunteering services for older people face the problems of lack of awareness of older people’s participation,lack of a reliable community volunteering mechanism,lack of scientific guidance on volunteering and lack of incentive mechanisms for volunteering,resulting in an overall low proportion of older people currently volunteering in urban communities.In order to address the above problems,this study takes older people in community D as the object of research,with the overall aim of improving older people’s participation in volunteering,and uses the professional social work method to conduct practical research.Questionnaires and interviews were used to understand the reasons and needs of the elderly people in Community D for not participating in volunteering activities.Based on the problems and needs,six group activities were designed and carried out based on the theory of strengths perspective to enhance the participation of the elderly in community volunteering in D.By exploring the strengths and potentials of the elderly in the community,guiding the elderly to learn the knowledge and skills of volunteering,enhancing the ability of the elderly in the community to participate in volunteering,the elderly in the community will continue to participate in community volunteering activities,thus promoting the elderly in the community This will enhance the participation of older people in community volunteering activities.Through the intervention study and the impact evaluation of group work,it was found that older people’s participation in community volunteering increased significantly,mainly because through their participation in group activities,older people in the community increased their confidence in participating in community volunteering by exploring their own strengths and potentials;improved their ability to participate in volunteering through learning the knowledge and skills of volunteering;planned and implemented community volunteering activities;and increased their volunteering experience through planning and implementing community volunteering activities.They have increased their volunteering experience through planning and implementing community volunteering activities.In conclusion,social work interventions in urban communities to increase older people’s participation in volunteering are producing good results. |
