In recent years,in order to achieve the strategic goal of modernizing my country’s social governance system and governance capacity, the state proposes that the level of community governance in my country must first be improved. As an important part of community governance, community volunteer service is highly valued by the state. At present,as the main body of community volunteer service, although residents have cultivated public service awareness and exercised their social service ability in the activities, there are also many problems in the process of participation.Among them, the residents’ attitude towards participation,as an important factor affecting their participation in community volunteer service, deserves in-depth discussion and research. This paper takes the Q community in Wuhan as the research area, and takes the urban residents over the age of 18 in the community as the research object.Through questionnaires,semi-structured interviews and other methods, from the three dimensions of cognition, emotion and behavioral tendencies, the residents’ community is analyzed. To investigate the status quo of volunteer service participation attitudes. The survey found that the attitudes of residents in the Q community to participate in community volunteer services were relatively negative, mainly as follows: there are deviations in the cognition of community volunteer service participation, indifference to participation, and insignificant tendency to participate in behavior. The main reasons for these problems are: community publicity work is not in place, individual demands cannot be met,and the necessary conditions for participation are lacking.Based on the above situation, the author recruited eight residents with intervention needs from the research objects as service objects, and carried out six sessions of group work intervention activities under the guidance of cognitive behavior theory and advantage perspective theory.Service cognition, enhance their emotional identity and emotional evaluation, increase their behavioral tendencies, and finally realize the transformation of residents’ attitude towards participation. The evaluation results show that: with the intervention of group work, the cognitive, emotional and behavioral tendencies of group members to participate in community volunteer service have significant positive changes, which proves that group work can provide effective help in changing residents’ attitude towards community volunteer service participation.
