| Self-identity is an individual’s ability to maintain a stable and continuous self-perception and ability to treat themselves and their surroundings, which is mainly reflected in the individual’s own clear understanding and evaluation,as well as the individual’s understanding and orientation of themselves in interaction with the environment and others.A positive sense of self-identity enables individuals to have a rational attitude and a clear understanding of themselves and the outside world,so that they can face life more positively and optimistically.Due to many factors, the divorce rate in China is increasing year by year, and the number of young people in single-parent families is also increasing.Related research shows that the single-parent family environment has a greater impact on the establishment of adolescents’ self-identity,which in turn will have a profound impact on their development. Therefore,it is important to study the self-identity of adolescents in single-parent families. In this study,Fei,an adolescent from a single-parent family, was used as the target, and a casework method was applied to study the self-identity of adolescents from single-parent families.Firstly, the self-identity of the caseworker was measured by the self-identity scale, and the interview method was used to interview the caseworker, his family members, his teachers and classmates, and it was found that the caseworker had problematic expressions of unclear self-understanding,poor self-goal identification, low interpersonal identification, and self-role conflict.Secondly, based on the cognitive-behavioral theory and the dominant perspective theory, this study used casework methods and techniques to intervene in the factors affecting the client’s self-identity according to the client’s needs to correctly understand himself, enhance his self-goal identity, improve his interpersonal identity, and alleviate his self-role conflict. The program is designed to help clients develop a positive sense of self-identity,which is conducive to their healthy growth. After providing eight sessions of services to the clients, the clients’ self-identity improved significantly. This leads to the conclusion that the formation and enhancement of self-identity of adolescents from single-parent families does not only depend on the individual, but also on the interaction with the environment and others.Forming a sense of oneself through the interaction with the environment and others is also crucial to improving self-identity. |
