With the development of social economy and the acceleration of urbanization, the rural labor force is shifting to urban areas, and young people from rural areas flock to cities.Due to the influence of population flow, some children in rural areas are separated from their parents’ education and companionship and raised by grandparents, becoming "left-behind children".Rural education has always been an important part of China’s education system, which is not only related to local talent training, economic construction, but also related to the implementation of rural revitalization strategy. However,in the basic education stage,left-behind children in rural areas have realistic problems such as high dropout rate, lack of moral cultivation, and lack of safety education, among which weak autonomous learning ability is a typical problem.Because the left-behind children in rural areas are in the growth stage, their values are not yet fully mature, and their independent learning ability is lacking because of the lack of parents’ companionship and education. This paper is divided into six parts. In the first part,by consulting relevant literature, the research background and significance are clarified, and the research status and achievements and experiences of experts and scholars at home and abroad are learned to provide some guidance for the writing of this paper. The second part introduces related concepts and theories, including three concepts of left-behind children, autonomous learning ability and group work, and two theories of social learning theory and autonomous learning theory, which provide the basic theoretical basis for this study. The third part takes120 left-behind children from Grade 4 to Grade 6 of X Primary School in Taipingshan Town,Songyuan City,Jilin Province as the research object, and further understands the autonomous learning ability of left-behind children in rural areas of X Primary School through questionnaires and interviews. It is found that there are four main problems: lack of good learning environment, difficulty in reasonably allocating learning time, unscientific learning methods and unclear learning motivation, among which environmental problems are objective external factors and time, methods and motivation are subjective internal factors. The fourth part designs the program of this activity, defines the concept and goal of the activity, recruits ten left-behind children from rural areas to form a group, and formulates the basic arrangement and evaluation method of the activity. The fifth part, based on social learning theory and autonomous learning theory, focuses on the role of example and imitation, and uses the cognitive process of learning to mobilize members’ interest and enthusiasm in learning and offset their resistance. The plan includes six group activities: establishing autonomous learning consciousness, improving autonomous learning environment, planning autonomous learning time, mastering autonomous learning methods, clarifying autonomous learning motivation and summarizing autonomous learning results.Focus on three aspects of group members’ autonomous learning: time allocation, skills and methods, and motivation. Finally, after the activity,we visited ten members’ homes to find out the changes of the members after the activity. From the actual situation after the activity, the activity basically reached the preset goal, all members basically mastered the relevant knowledge of autonomous learning, and their academic performance improved to varying degrees. The sixth part summarizes and reflects on this paper, and analyzes the shortcomings in the design and implementation of the scheme. It is hoped that this research can help improve the autonomous learning ability of left-behind children in X village, help more left-behind children cultivate good study habits, guide them to correctly understand learning, establish a healthy outlook on life and values, and lay a solid foundation for their future study and growth.
