To explore the relationship between negative physical self,peer relationships,and self-esteem,and to test whether self-esteem has a mediating effect between negative physical self and peer relationships,this study adopted a survey questionnaire method and collected research data using the Children and Adolescents Peer Relationship Scale,Adolescent Self Esteem Rating Scale,and Negative Physical Self Scale.The research tool used SPSS 23.0,The study selected 467 junior high school students from New Century School in Dacheng County,Langfang City,and compared their differences in five aspects: gender,grade,place of origin,whether they are only children,and whether their parents are divorced.The study explored the mediating role of self-esteem in the negative physical self influence of junior high school students on peer relationships,and developed effective group counseling intervention plans based on actual situations to improve students’ self-esteem level and improve the quality of peer relationships,The research results are as follows:(1)There are significant differences in the overall negative physical self of middle school students in terms of gender and place of origin,while there are no significant differences in terms of grade,whether they are only children,and whether their parents are divorced;(2)There are significant differences in peer relationships among junior high school students in terms of gender and place of origin,but there are no significant differences in grades,whether they are only children,and whether their parents are divorced;(3)There are significant differences in self-esteem among junior high school students in terms of gender and grade,but there are no significant differences in student origin,whether they are only children,and whether their parents are divorced;(4)There is a correlation between negative physical self,peer relationships,and self-esteem.Negative physical self can negatively predict peer relationships,and there is a significant negative correlation between the two;Negative physical self negatively predicts self-esteem,and there is a significant negative correlation between the two;Self esteem positively predicts peer relationships,and there is a significant positive correlation between the two;(5)Self esteem partially mediates the impact of negative physical self on peer relationships among middle school students;(6)Group psychological counseling with a theme of self-esteem can effectively improve the self-esteem level of middle school students.
