Since entering the 21st century,China’s comprehensive national power has been increasing,and the challenges China faces have been increasing,still under the state of insecurity brought by domestic and foreign countries,so every citizen should care about and maintain national security.The Ministry of Education has issued a relevant policy document advocating the integration of national security awareness education into teaching of various subjects,and high school geography course,which is responsible for the important mission of cultivating students’ view of human-land coordination and national sentiment,is an important part of conducting national security awareness cultivation.Therefore,based on the current situation of cultivating national security awareness in high school geography teaching,this paper examines strategies for cultivating students’ national security awareness to help them understand national security issues and build up national security awareness using geography subject ideas.Based on Kohlberg’s theory of moral development stages,constructivist learning theory and Bandura’s social learning theory,this paper identifies the background,current status and significance of thise study through literature analysis,and defines the core concepts of national security and national security awareness.The seven aspects of national security content embedded in the five Xiangjiao edition textbooks and the recent eight years’ college entrance examination questions are summarized and organized through the cultivation content of geography subjects specified in the national security education documents,and the current four editions of geography textbooks in the volume "Resources,Environment and National Security" are compared and analyzed.Secondly,a teacher questionnaire and a student questionnaire are designed to investigate the current situation of national security awareness cultivation in high school geography teaching with the help of Internet.Then,the possible reasons for the above problems are analyzed,and the solution strategies for cultivating national security awareness are proposed in combination with theoretical guidance.Finally,according to the proposed cultivation strategies,three different cases of national security and deep-sea security,ecological and social security,and resource security are designed respectively based on the content of Xiangjiao version of textbook,in order to provide reference for teachers of geography.The specific findings of the study are as follows.(1)By combing through five Xiangjiao version geography textbooks and questions of the recent eight years’ college entrance examinations,the fit between geography knowledge and the cultivation of national security awareness is found.The questions of college entrance examination in the past eight years contain the most contents of ecological security and resource security,mainly involving such examination points as control of land desertification,development and protection of wetland resources,sustainable development of industry and agriculture,and protection of biodiversity,which are the key contents of geography knowledge for cultivating national security awareness.Comparative analysis of four current editions of textbook “Resources,Environment and National Security” helps teachers to comprehensively develop and utilize the curriculum resources in different editions of textbooks for the cultivation of national security awareness.(2)Questionnaire survey is conducted among teachers in Handan,Shijiazhuang,Tangshan,Hengshui and Qinhuangdao cities in Hebei Province,and high school students mainly from the First Middle School of Daming County in Handan city,Hebei Province,and it is found that the current problems facing the cultivation of national security awareness in high school geography teaching mainly come from two aspects: teachers and teaching.The teachers’ awareness of national security content is low,and the emphasis on national security is superficial and varies among regions and subjects.The development and utilization of curriculum resources is low,the cultivation methods are single and lack of innovation,and the cultivation effect lacks an effective evaluation mechanism.Most teachers and students believe that tight geography class time and high pressure of college entrance exams are the main reasons for the difficulties in cultivating national security awareness.In addition,teachers’ low national security literacy,the limitation of teaching conditions,the lack of school leaders to carry out cultivation activities and the differences in educational philosophy between regions are also the reasons for the above problems.(3)According to investigation of the status quo of national security consciousness in senior high school geography teaching,and considering the characteristics of the cultivation of national security awareness,the following cultivation strategies are summarized: enhance teachers’ literacy and strengthen theoretical foundation;select cases content to create real situation;use the cultivation method skillfully to add interest to teaching;design questions carefully designed to stimulate deep thinking;optimiz the evaluation mechanism to give feedback on the real effect.(4)Three different case designs are carried out based on the proposed national security awareness cultivation strategies.Taking the Xiangjiao version of Compulsory Two "Ocean Rights and Interests and China’s Ocean Development Strategy" as an example,the case design of situational teaching relies on the Diaoyu Islands Digital Museum to cultivate awareness of national security and deep-sea security.The case design takes the current hotspot of forest fires in Chongqing as a case to cultivate students’ awareness of social security and ecological security.In combination with the content of the Xiangjiao version of Selective Compulsory Three "Water Resources and National Security",the design of the social investigation activity program investigates water resources situation in Fanning District of Qinhuangdao City to cultivate students’ awareness of resource security.At the same time,corresponding evaluation forms are set up according to characteristics of the three cases to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of student cultivation process.
