As an indispensable part of mathematics learning,mathematics homework plays an important role in consolidating students’ knowledge and cultivating their thinking abilities,and it also helps teachers diagnose teaching and promote the improvement of education and teaching.With the promulgation of the "Opinions on further reducing the burden of homework and off-campus training for students in compulsory education" policy in 2021,the homework reform was once again pushed to the forefront and attracted the attention of local primary and secondary schools,which have taken a series of measures to reduce students’ homework burden,but its implementation effect is not significant.Based on this background,it is of certain significance and value to study the current situation of mathematical after-school homework assignment and correction in junior high school.This paper focuses on the following three questions: How to investigate the current situation of after-school homework assignment and correction in middle school A ? What is the current situation of after-school mathematics homework assignment and correction in this school,what problems exist and what are the reasons for the problems? What optimization strategies can be adopted to address these problems and causes?Firstly,the author prepared a questionnaire to investigate 204 students in Secondary School A in Luliang County,Qujing City,Yunnan Province,to understand the current situation of teachers’ assigning and correcting mathematics after-school homework in the school from the students’ perspective,as well as students’ awareness of mathematics afterschool homework and their attitudes towards completing it,and secondly,the author conducted in-depth interviews with four mathematics teachers in the school to investigate the assignment and correction of mathematics after-school homework in junior high school from the teachers’ perspective situation,to supplement and verify the questionnaire results.Then,by collecting a sample of some students’ mathematics after-school homework,the key problems presented in students’ mathematical afterschool homework assignment and correction were analyzed in depth.Finally,the observation method was used to further gain a realistic understanding of teachers’ mathematics homework assignment and students’ attitudes and behaviors toward homework.Through sorting out and analyzing the survey results,the author reveals the problems existing in the arrangement and correction of mathematical homework in A Middle School from six dimensions: the source,quantity,difficulty,type,arrangement method,and correction and feedback of math homework.The main problems are:(1)The arrangement of homework is excessively dependent on teaching aids,the content of homework lacks pertinence and hierarchy,and the number of homework is too large and difficult,The type of homework is single,and the collective arrangement is difficult to meet the development needs of students;(2)The method of correcting homework is simple,with too much emphasis on results based evaluation,random statistics of homework problems,and inadequate supervision of correcting errors.Next,based on theoretical knowledge of literature and practical findings,the author analyzes the deep-seated reasons for these problems in the school’s mathematics after-school homework from four levels:society,school,teachers and students.The main suggestions are:(1)Social level:Improve the regional homework management mechanism,strictly supervise the training and homework correction outside school,develop a diversified evaluation model,and actively guide the correct educational concept;(2)School level: Strictly control the quantity and quality of homework assignments,and attach importance to teacher education and teaching as well as the cultivation of homework design ability;(3)Teacher level: Improve the effectiveness of homework assignments by streamlining homework content,highlighting homework levels,and enriching homework forms,strictly standardize homework requirements,effectively guide problem solving skills,improve the quality of students’ homework completion,promote the efficiency of homework correction through diversified correction methods and reasonable evaluation models,accurately implement homework problems,and strictly supervise homework correction to improve the effectiveness of homework correction feedback.
