The development of part-time professional master’s education is the current trend of postgraduate education,and its orientation is to cultivate compound,applied and innovative high-level talents.A growing number of in-service personnel are studying part-time for a master’s degree in management majors such as Business Administration,Public Administration and Tourism Administration.This group has a certain number of years of social work experience.They are the bridge between universities,employers and other organizations,and can promote universities to pay attention to the divers needs of education,teaching and learning,and the integration of production and education.In order to achieve the precise connection between the talent training goals of universities and the needs of society,it is urgent to conduct in-depth research on the postgraduate training program.The paper mainly studies the training program based on the vocational capability demand of part-time master of management.Based on the theory of Lifelong Education,Competency Based Education and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs,the research carried out by using qualitative and quantitative research methods.First of all,combined with the instructions and requirements of the National Education Supervisory Committee,this study makes a text analysis of the training program for part-time master of management in H University.Secondly,construct a model for the vocational capability demand of part-time master of management students and design a questionnaire according to the demand model.The questionnaire survey was conducted among 286 part-time master of management students in H University,and a semi-structured interview was conducted with 14 managers of employers.Through the above research methods,the following conclusions are obtained: First,the formulation of the training program combines the instruction of the National Education Supervisory Committee with the advantages and characteristics of universities.Second,the top five demands for postgraduates’ vocational capabilities are life-long learning,learning ability,communication skills,problem solving and professional ethics.There are significant differences in the demand of each capability dimension in terms of age,working years,work unit type,occupation type,major and grade.Third,employers’ expectations for postgraduate training are mainly reflected in three aspects: improving professional capability,cultivating problem solving capability and strengthening management and overall planning capability.Based on the above research results,it is suggested to optimize the training program from the following three aspects: Firstly,to help postgraduates’ career development by meeting the physiological needs and safety needs;The second is to encourage postgraduates to be confident and self-reliant by meeting the social needs and respect needs;The third is to give full play to the deep potential and value of postgraduates by meeting the self-actualization needs.
