| This study mainly focuses on the filial piety practices of women from multi-child families in X village, the recognition of the role of "daughter" exhibited by female individuals in filial piety practices, and the changes in filial piety discourse presented around these women’s filial piety practices. Its essence is to explore the transformation of role playing, role cognition, and role expectations around the role of "daughter".To see the change of their subjectivity based on the role of "daughter".This study collects field materials through participatory observation,in-depth interviews, and focus group interviews. In terms of role-playing,the discussion focuses on the filial piety practices and changes that have occurred among women in X village. The study draws inspiration from Weber’s concept of "ideal type" and summarizes the filial piety practices of the daughters in X village as the "ideal type".This article deconstructs the concept of filial piety practice from three levels: economic support, daily care, and spiritual comfort.Firstly, the "daughters" of multi-child families in X Village have undergone a shift in their financial support for their parents from "pocket money" to "living expenses".It can be said that they are participating in a more "informal system" of financial support for their parents. In terms of daily life or disease care, they have also shifted from "internalization of care responsibilities" to "externalization of care responsibilities".At the time of caring for parents,it shows a more diversified logic of action-emotion,filial piety, family strategies and "rational choice" at the individual level. In terms of spiritual comfort, the "daughters" of multi-child families in X Village have demonstrated a shift from the role of "primary providers" to the role of "family ties",reflecting their instrumental significance in enhancing emotional ties within the family. In terms of role cognition, the daughters of multi-child families in X Village exhibit a characteristic of unequal recognition of rights and obligations towards the role of "daughter".The rights of the role of "daughter",especially the rights and interests of land, are still slightly insufficient. In terms of role obligations,it presents a pluralistic logic of subjectivity, but also shows the gender equality awareness of "equal but ueven".And when they are faced with the choice of "daughter"-"daughter-in-law" roles, they show a shift from "both sides" to "maternal family preference".In terms of role expectations,X Village’s expectations for the role of "daughter" have begun to show a trend of "assimilation of sons and daughters".Even in terms of emotional comfort and daily care,it shows higher expectations for filial piety towards its daughter. The study found that women in multi-child families in Village X are participating in filial practices for their parents in a more "informal institutional" way and that filial piety is still instrumentally important in Village X. |
