The role of women in traditional old-age care practices is rarely mentioned or even ignored. It is generally believed that for families with sons,as long as the family conditions of the sons are acceptable, the lives of elderly parents are guaranteed. In contrast,if there is only a daughter in the family, even if the daughter's family conditions are good,it may mean that the elderly parents are unsupported. In this context, families with purely female households without a male supporter are likely to fall into the old age.Based on a year-long investigation of the all-female households in M village and guided by the theory of social roles, this paper expounds the current plight of all-female households in terms of "lack of elderly subjects in traditional customs" and "insufficient role of daughters as elderly subjects".This paper investigates the factors that influence the daughter's support behavior in the current M village pure female households, and finds that the daughter's economic status, time status or living distance from her parents, the behavior pattern of husband's family and his parents' family, and the understanding of the role of the support subject all affect the daughter's support behavior to some extent. In view of the above influencing factors, the corresponding intervention strategies are put forward and some intervention work is carried out.At the level of case intervention, the author discussed the choice of intervention theory, intervention steps, intervention principles and the use of intervention methods, and recorded the work practice of using the above strategies to intervene in the maintenance behavior of daughters in an all-female family through case talks. At the level of community intervention, two practical works have been carried out to urge village cadres to supervise the supporting behavior of their children and to strengthen the identification of women's responsibility to support their parents through community education. In addition, the following three aspects have been proposed to further solve the plight of elderly care in all-female households.Firstly, change the traditional endowment culture through community advocacy.Secondly, external constraints are formed on the behavior of supporting children through the establishment of village councils.Thirdly, give play to the alternative role of community mutual assistance model for the aged.It is hoped that this study will make a valuable supplement to the theoretical research on solving the old-age care problem in the pure female households under the realistic background, andalso provide some feasible references for social work to intervene in this field,so as to make the old people in the pure female households be cared for and promote social harmony.
