In the era of mobile Internet,"mediated existence" has become an important representation of social life,and people’s media literacy also forms the basis of their existence and development,affecting their access to resources for survival and development.As "natives" of online media,junior high school students are highly involved in media life,but they are not fully developed in their thinking,lacking their own dialectical thinking,and are vulnerable to the erosion of bad communication concepts.Therefore,how to improve middle school students’ ability to discern and judge when they are exposed to various media and media information,so that they can effectively obtain and disseminate media information,create media products,and better participate in social life has become an important topic of research and an educational issue that must be implemented.At present,media literacy education in primary and secondary schools in China is mainly integrated into the teaching of school subjects.Because of the similarity between the objectives of developing "listening,speaking,reading and writing" skills in language subjects and media literacy,exploring the integration of media literacy education in language teaching has also attracted the attention of some researchers.The first unit of the eighth grade book,the journalism unit,has its unique advantages in developing students’ media literacy.Language teachers can develop students’ media awareness recognition,critical appraisal and interactive skills in the three teaching blocks of news reading,news interviewing and news writing.However,in actual teaching,the value of news units is not maximized,and teachers are not aware of or have difficulties in using news units to develop students’ media literacy.Therefore,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions on the basis of questionnaire survey and result analysis on the current situation of cultivating students’ media literacy in middle school language journalism unit teaching at three levels: educational awareness,teaching implementation and teaching evaluation.Specifically,1.teachers should make efforts to improve their own media literacy and raise their awareness of media literacy education;2.teachers should pay attention to news reading,news interviewing and news writing,and cultivate students’ media literacy in the process of news unit teaching implementation;3.teachers should implement the teaching evaluation of students’ media literacy and increase the content of evaluation of students’ media literacy in process evaluation and junior high school language academic level examination.
