| Since the dawn of time,mankind has been so inwoven with the sea.Long sweep of history shows that there exist many marks left on the connection between humans and the ocean.In other words,the ocean is a reminder of the long human history.We could say the era gives a more profound meaning to the sea.The sea doesn’t divide the land where people live into isolated islands,but it is the key bond of linking people of different races,skin colors and languages into building a community with a shared future.In simple terms,it is an inevitable choice for mankind to move from land to ocean.The teaching of maritime history exactly corresponds with the needs of the times.The fundamentality of teaching maritime history is further emphasized in the New Curriculum Standard.The material about maritime history is quite abundant in the textbooks,which can provide invaluable support for the teaching of maritime history.Putting the ocean at the center,the relevant content is taught with the interaction between human activity and ocean perspective during the teaching of maritime history.This approach is favorable to cultivate historical-thinking of students and enhance their key competencies of the related discipline,so as to achieve the purpose of educating people in teaching history.The main idea in this thesis is the teaching of high school maritime history in the key competencies way,which contains the following.The first chapter elaborates the related concepts.On the one hand,the key competencies of history is not only inherited from the previous ideas including double-base and three-dimensional aims on the basis of New Curriculum Reform but also have challenged the current teaching of history.On the other hand,According to the features of maritime history that were summed up by various scholars,maritime history represents the trans-boundary characteristic which has been pinpointed.At the same time,three focuses were highlighted involving that people-oriented principle,putting the ocean at the center and the relationship between human activity and ocean.These have implications for the teaching of maritime history from a key competencies perspective.Chapter 2 describes the compatility between maritime history and five key competencies,analysing that the five key competencies are good for the maritime history.What’s more,according to some concrete cases,this chapter argues how to introduce the cultivation of the key competencies by contacting with related knowledge of maritime history.It proves the feasibility for maritime history teaching to implement the key competencies.Chapter 3 examines the current situation of teaching maritime history in high school,from the perspective of key competencies,with mainly analyzed the result at students’ and teachers’ level respectively.According to teachers’ vision,the teaching of maritime history is a tremendous priority,but there are several problems in the process of the teaching implementation.For instance,the teaching method is too single and extension knowledge about maritime history is undervalued.And then students thought the interpretation of related concepts is not clear.What’s more,due attention has not to be paid to the subject.Last but not least,the implementation of the key competencies hasn’t achieved the desired outcome at students’ level.Chapter 4 proposes principles and strategies for teaching maritime history from the key competencies perspective,pointing out that humanism,epochal character,openness should be paid special attention in maritime history teaching.Meanwhile,it emphasizes the essentiality of combining theory with practice in the teaching.Strategies are suggested about the maritime history teaching from the first class and the second class respectively.Finally,based on self-designed teaching bases about marine history-related contents of the textbook,the maritime prohibition and the closed-door policy during the Ming and Qing dynasties is taken as the background,and then the impact on China’s development and the changes in the world during the same period are viewed through China’s maritime policy from the perspective of ocean,which aims to enhance the cultivation of key competencies in the maritime history teaching. |
