| The key competencies of history are the centralized embodiment of the discipline’s nurturing value.After the general high school history curriculum standards clarify the connotation of the five key competencies of history,the curriculum objectives refine their specific content around the fundamental task of establishing moral education.However,there is still a great deal of work to be done to implement them in a targeted manner and to further develop history classroom instructional design,students’ academic assessment,and history teachers’ professional development.As an important curriculum resource,pictorial history has been widely used in history teaching.As a branch of pictorial historical materials,history cartoons can be effectively used in history classrooms to stimulate students’ enthusiasm and subjective motivation.Its commentary and subjective nature are also very useful for enhancing students’ key competencies in history.After discussing the importance of using history cartoons in the high school history classroom to enhance students’ key competencies,improve students’ interest in learning,and promote the creation of history situations,this paper compares the various sources of history cartoons and the principles to be considered in selecting them.Teachers can select history comics mainly from history textbooks,historical writings and materials,art materials,and internet resources,etc.The principles of readability,rationality,science,and education should be observed in the process of using them for teaching.This is followed by an investigation of the use of history comics in the high school history classroom.Firstly,the questionnaire was used to find out whether students come into contact with history cartoons in their daily life and study,as well as their mastery of history cartoons learning methods and their attitudes toward history cartoons;secondly,interviews were conducted with front-line teachers from different regions and age groups to find out their views and suggestions on using history cartoons in the classroom to cultivate students’ key competencies in history subjects,and then some problems of history cartoons in actual history teaching were analyzed and summarized.These include teachers’ neglect of the development of students’ historical learning ability,teachers’ professional ability to interpret historical cartoons needs to be improved,and teachers’ lack of attention to and unreasonable selection of historical materials such as historical cartoons.For these problems,the author has proposed some improvement measures in a targeted manner.And taking a lesson in the unified version of high school history textbook as an example,I carry out the practice of history cartoons in high school history classroom and reflect on the current high school history cartoon teaching based on the teaching practice.We conducted the practice and reflected on the current teaching of history cartoons in high school.The scientific and reasonable history cartoons can indeed be used to effectively cultivate students’ core literacy in history,and the research in this paper also hopes that pictorial historical materials,including history cartoons,will be given more attention in addition to being used as textual support systems and visual teaching aids,so that the combination of pictorial use and core literacy in the history classroom can be newly interpreted. |
