Research On The Localization Of Community Social Work

In China,community social work continues to spread and practice gradually deepens.However,communities in our country exhibit different economic,political,cultural,and social characteristics,with unique regional characteristics.So,in order for community social work to solve community problems and achieve community development,it is necessary to consider the practice in the environment and explore the localization strategies of community social work.The article adopts a qualitative research method,collecting data through participatory observation and interview methods,and conducting in-depth research on the entire process of the implementation practice of Tongxin Institution.Research has found that at the beginning of its implementation,Tongxin Institution localizes from three aspects:technology,relationships,and professional value.Specifically,to provide minors’ protection and early childhood development services for migrant children in Beicun,and to implement professional social work methods;Provide reading services and after-school services to schools and kindergartens,and establish partnerships with them,relying on the resources of schools and kindergartens to reduce obstacles to landing;Carry out community education for residents and cultivate public awareness of residents’ communities.However,if work methods are not adapted based on the unique social situation of the community,it will inevitably lead to difficulties in implementing community social work services.In this case,Tongxin Institution ignored the family and community factors behind the case owner’s problems due to its emphasis on individualized problem diagnosis,and the effectiveness of migrant children’s services was limited due to their mismatch with the living system of migrant families;The shortage of institutional resources has become an obstacle to maintaining the cooperative relationship between social workers and schools;Social workers instill values in their service recipients,replacing their own value judgments with those of the service recipients,which leads to a rejection reaction from the case owner.Tongxin Institution conducts localized adaptation of community social work based on the actual situation in Beicun.Firstly,adjust the service perspective in terms of professional methods,pay attention to intervention in the families of migrant children,and innovate the strategies for nurturing mothers and teachers.Secondly,view community resources from an advantageous perspective and cultivate community service talents through resource linking and professional supervision.Finally,social workers transform their role as caregivers,becoming companions and companions of service recipients,and exerting flexible forces to guide the improvement of community awareness among service recipients.The successful localization of community social work is reflected in the shaping of the professional legitimacy of Tongxin institutions,and the recognition of school teachers towards the concept and methods of social work,consciously becoming practitioners of reading promotion.Under the guidance of social workers,residents gradually understand the relationship between individuals and the community,and are willing to participate in community services,establishing mutual assistance relationships among migrant women.The localization practice of Tongxin Institution has inspired us,and its success factor can be attributed to responding to the community’s practical concerns as the primary prerequisite for localization;Integrated development is an important mechanism for the localization of community social work talents;The generation of residents’ subjectivity is the driving force for promoting the localization of community social work;Value practice helps to continuously change the target audience.Based on the above cases,we propose the following suggestions: the localization of community social work should appropriately use marketing methods;Learn to reflect in action;Strengthen connections with community organizations.
