Football is a competitive field event,and athletes need to engage in high-intensity and high-intensity intermittent sports,which requires them to have good physical fitness.High school football players are in the stage of growth and development,and athletes of this age group need to prevent sports injuries caused by inappropriate training arrangements when conducting physical training.The main function of functional training is to master the correct basic body posture and movements,develop stable specialized movements,form specialized motor skills,and play a role in preventing sports injuries.This study aims to explore whether functional training can be applied to the physical fitness training of high school football players,as well as its impact on their physical fitness and basic athletic ability,in order to provide theoretical basis for the update of football player physical fitness training methods.The study mainly used research methods such as literature review,expert interviews,and experiments to apply functional training to the physical fitness training of 20 male football players in the first grade of the football team of the 10 th Middle School in Leping City.The feasibility was explored,and the experimental subjects were divided into an experimental group and a control group.The experimental group(n=10)received functional training,while the control group(n=10)received traditional physical fitness training.The research results indicate that:(1)in terms of specialized physical fitness.After the experiment,the T-Test scores of the experimental group in sensitive running and throwing out of bounds were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);After functional training,the performance of the experimental group in T-Test sensitive running,throw out of bounds ball,and 5*25 meter turn back running events was significantly higher than before the experiment(P<0.01),and the performance of standing long jump events was significantly higher than before the experiment(P<0.05);The results of throwing out of bounds balls and 5*25 meter turn back runs in the control group after the experiment were higher than before(P<0.01),and the standing long jump performance was significantly higher than before the experiment(P<0.05).(2)In terms of FMS functional screening testing.After the experiment,the experimental group showed significantly higher scores in front and back split leg squats(right),active straight knee lifting,and rotational stability compared to the control group(P<0.05),and significantly higher scores in front and back split leg squats(left)compared to the control group(P<0.01);After functional training,the experimental group showed significantly higher levels of squatting,hurdle crossing(left),shoulder flexibility,active straight knee lifting,trunk stability push ups,and rotational stability than before the experiment(P<0.05),and significantly higher levels of hurdle crossing(right)and front and rear split leg squatting(P<0.01);After the experiment,the average score of the control group in only the squatting event was higher than before the experiment(P<0.05).Conclusion: Functional training significantly improves the sensitivity and strength qualities of high school football players,and can enhance their joint stability,flexibility,core stability,and body balance abilities.Therefore,it is recommended to apply functional training to the physical training of high school football players.
