In the era of economic globalization and rapid development of science and technology,all countries have put forward higher requirements for talent quality,and the cultivation of highquality talents is inseparable from education reform.In the face of the need to cultivate new talents in the new era,the new round of curriculum reform in China requires the core literacy of subjects as the ultimate goal of curriculum teaching.In order to implement the cultivation of core literacy for our students,the Ministry of Education officially promulgated the Science Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)in 2022,clearly stating the general goal that "the science curriculum aims to cultivate students’ core literacy and lay the foundation for their lifelong development".The improvement of core literacy cannot be achieved overnight,and the traditional classroom teaching can no longer meet the current curriculum goals,while unit teaching can break the boundary between classroom and classroom,and become a bridge between the curriculum literacy goals and classroom teaching.Through unit teaching design,teachers can systematically plan the whole unit and help students form a complete knowledge system,so that the core literacy training of science subjects can be implemented.This study aims to promote the development of unit instructional design in the field of elementary science,to enhance elementary science teachers’ ability to design units,and to improve students’ core literacy in science subjects.In this thesis,the following research was conducted: first,the concepts of core literacy,science subject core literacy,and unit instructional design were defined by reviewing relevant literature,and the current status of their domestic and international research was analyzed to discuss the relevant theoretical foundations of this study.Second,we used questionnaires and narrative descriptions to investigate the current situation of elementary school science teachers’ unit teaching design based on core literacy in science subjects,and analyzed the results of questionnaires and lesson observations to find that: elementary school science teachers’ awareness of core literacy in science subjects needs to be improved,the implementation and application of unit teaching design needs to be strengthened,and the practice of unit teaching lacks available learning The results show that primary school science teachers’ awareness of the core literacy of science subjects needs to be improved.Third,we summarize the steps of the unit teaching design based on the core literacy of science subjects with the existing research results: comprehensive analysis of teaching elements,clarification of unit themes,comprehensive analysis of teaching elements,formulation of unit learning objectives,design of unit teaching activities,formation of activity plans,design of unit teaching evaluation,and optimization of teaching design.Fourth,according to the specific steps in the previous section,a specific teaching case will be designed based on the unit "Motion and Forces" and put the case into practice.Two classes with similar levels of existing science core literacy were selected as the experimental class and the control class,and the unit design was implemented in the experimental class while the control class taught the same content based on the original design.The results showed that the experimental class showed more significant changes than the control class in the four areas of scientific concepts,scientific thinking,inquiry practice and attitude responsibility,and the classroom observation form also showed that the learning status and learning effect of the experimental class were better than those of the control class.Based on the analysis of the practical effects of case teaching,this study concludes that the unit teaching design can promote the development of students’ core literacy in science subjects,i.e.,the unit teaching design can achieve good teaching effects.
