As a national intangible cultural heritage,blue print has a long history and cultural value in China.Commonly known as "medicine cloth",blue printed cloth emerged in the Qin and Han dynasties and flourished in the Tang and Song dynasties.With its easy availability of raw materials,auspicious motifs and rustic colours,it has become popular among the people and is much loved by the nation for its blue and white colours.As a representative of the traditional handicraft category,blue print is a perfect combination of material utility and spiritual applicability.The artistic features and cultural symbolism of blue prints have a profound nurturing value.The integration of blue prints into junior art classroom teaching is an important way of safeguarding and passing on outstanding Chinese traditional culture,enhancing students’ cultural confidence,aesthetic and humanistic qualities,and strengthening their sense of identity and cultural self-confidence in the Chinese nation.Based on the development of students’ literacy,the unitised learning provides an in-depth understanding of the cultural values,artistic characteristics,modelling,aesthetic meanings,artistic creation and the close connection between blue prints and people’s lives,giving full play to the role of blue prints in nurturing students’ aesthetic perception,artistic expression,creative practice and cultural understanding in art teaching,thereby realising the value of the subject in educating people.The aim of this paper is to design the practice of applying blue prints to the teaching of a large unit of art in junior high school as the main research objective.The main content is divided into five parts: in the first part,the basic overview of the non-heritage blue print is discussed,the aesthetic,cultural and spiritual value of blue print as art teaching content is analysed,and the theoretical basis for the design of the large-unit art teaching is grasped;in the second part,questionnaires and interviews are conducted with students and teachers of junior secondary schools to understand the development of the non-heritage blue print in the current art classroom teaching.In the third part,a large unit teaching design for blue-printed fabric art is carried out,supported by the investigation of teaching objectives,analysis of teaching contents,application of teaching methods and definition of teaching ideas for the large unit;in the fourth part,the unit teaching practice is carried out based on the teaching design of this paper,and reflections on the large unit teaching practice of blue-printed fabric art are made;finally,the problems encountered in the process of this study are summarised and prospected.By carrying out a large unit teaching practice with the theme of blue print in the junior high school art classroom,the artistic characteristics and cultural value of blue print are given full play,the dimensions of teaching content and expression are broadened,students’ awareness of Chinese fine traditional culture and heritage is stimulated,innovative and creative abilities are cultivated,and cultural confidence is built up.
