The 21 st century of informatization requires people to change their linear and simple thinking and solve complex system problems.In this era background,society has put forward higher requirements for training students’ systematic thinking ability.Biology teaches the composition,inheritance,environment of living things,etc.,which are closely connected with natural environment and human life,and has obvious advantages in cultivating students’ systematic thinking ability.Problem-based Learning(PBL)is a teaching mode that takes problem as the core and cooperates to solve problems.It has been proved to be an effective way to cultivate students’ systematic thinking in other disciplines,but there is still a lack of research on applying PBL teaching mode to cultivate systematic thinking in biology.In order to explore the application of PBL teaching mode in cultivating high school students’ biological systematic thinking,this study was carried out.First of all,through literature reading and bibliometric analysis,this paper analyzes the current research situation of PBL teaching mode and systematic thinking cultivation,determines the connotation,characteristics,and general process of PBL teaching mode,clarifies the relevant connotation of systematic thinking,and establishes a theoretical basis for future research.Based on relevant theories,combined with literature and actual teaching situations,a questionnaire on students’ systematic thinking level was developed.Secondly,through the analysis of the questionnaire survey results,it is clear about the shortcomings of senior high school students’ systematic thinking ability,as well as the correlation between senior high school students’ systematic thinking level and team collaboration ability,revealing the implementation focus of PBL teaching model teaching practice in cultivating students’ systematic thinking.Then,combining theoretical research and current situation analysis,it identifies the advantages of PBL teaching mode in cultivating students’ systematic thinking,proposes strategies for cultivating students’ systematic thinking in PBL teaching from three aspects:problem design,teacher teaching,student cooperation,and self induction,and completes the construction of PBL teaching mode from teaching preparation,teaching implementation,and teaching evaluation,That is:(i)The teaching is prepared to use the Interpretative Structural Modeling Method(ISM)to analyze the course content,build a system model,design the teaching objectives according to the biology curriculum standards and the systematic thinking hierarchy model,and design the relevant problem chain and create the environment in advance;(ii)Teaching implementation pays attention to students’ initiative and presents problems systematically;(iii)Teaching evaluation focuses on the evaluation of students’ metacognitive style and timely improves the teaching mode.According to the constructed PBL teaching model,the author designed relevant teaching cases and presented two typical cases to further explain the constructed PBL teaching model and the proposed teaching strategies.Finally,the designed case is applied to the teaching of experimental and control classes,and the results of teaching experiments are analyzed and tested from multiple perspectives.The research results show that systematic thinking can effectively improve students’ systematic thinking level through deliberate cultivation.Compared with traditional models,the PBL teaching model has a better effect on improving students’ systematic thinking level,and the PBL teaching model has a more obvious effect on improving high-level systematic thinking,That is,the PBL teaching model helps students understand the relationships within the system and helps students to understand the overall cognitive system;However,in terms of system identification and system structure construction,the PBL teaching model does not show significant advantages over traditional teaching models.This study clarified the feasibility of cultivating students’ systematic thinking through PBL teaching mode,constructed a PBL teaching mode based on systematic thinking cultivation,verified the advantages of this teaching mode,and proposed relevant suggestions for using PBL teaching mode to cultivate students’ systematic thinking,which can provide effective reference for first-line teachers and relevant researchers to use PBL teaching mode to cultivate students’ systematic thinking.
