Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy Development On Chinese Employment

Employment is the biggest people’s livelihood.China has a number of population,so there is a great demand for employment.It is one of the important goals of our economic development to solve employment problem.In 2018,the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee explicitly stated the task of "stabilizing employment" for the first time.Since then,"stabilizing employment" has received continuous attention from the government and the public.With the popularization of technology and the wide use of digital products it has a great influence on the existing way of life.According to the statistics of China Academy of Communications,with the development of digital economy,the number of jobs absorbed by digital enterprises increases,becoming the most important way to attract employment.Therefore,integrating digital economy development and employment into the same framework for analysis is of great significance for ensuring employment and people’s livelihood and maintaining social stability under the background of digital economy.Given this,this text discusses the impact of digital economy development to our country employment.Firstly,the index system of the development level of digital economy is constructed based on the connotation of digital economy.The index system adopts the factor analysis method to comprehensively evaluate the development level of digital economy in 30 provinces and municipalities during2006-2020 from three aspects of digital economy infrastructure construction,digital industrialization and digital users,and analyzes its overall development trend and spatial distribution characteristics.Then,the SLM model is used to empirically analyze the influence of digital economy development on total employment and employment in three industries,and analyze the direct influence and indirect influence respectively.The panel threshold effect model is used to analyze the nonlinear effect of digital economy development on employment.Finally,according to the research conclusions,relevant policy suggestions are put forward.Through empirical analysis,we find that the development level of regional digital economy is steadily increasing,and there is an imbalance in space,showing a spatial distribution pattern of decreasing regional digital economy levels in the east,central and west.On the employment effect of digital economy,it is found that the improvement of the development level of digital economy will significantly promote the increase of total employment;From the perspective of employment industry structure,the improvement of the development level of digital economy will reduce the amount of employment in the primary industry,while increase the amount of employment in the secondary industry.Through the comparison of coefficients,we can see that the promotion effect of digital economy development on the amount of employment in the tertiary industry is stronger than that of the secondary industry,that is,the development of digital economy will promote the transfer of labor force in the primary industry to the secondary industry.The impact of digital economy development on total employment not only has a significant promoting effect,but also has nonlinear effect,which conforms to the single threshold model.The empirical results show that the impact of digital economy on employment has the feature of "diminishing marginal effect".
