Ocean seafarers are great contributors to the shipping industry and play a huge role in the construction and development of China’s maritime power.Ocean seafarers have a special nature of work.They are faced with the situation of working on the ship for a long time and unable to accompany their families.They are in a state of long-term vacancy in the growth of their children.As one of the important social relationships,parent-child relationship plays an important role in all systems of the family.A good parent-child relationship can not only make the ocean seafarers work more stable,but also promote the physical and mental development of the seafarer’s children and obtain family happiness.This study focuses on the parent-child relationship of children of ocean seafarers in junior and senior high school.Due to the particularity of the work of ocean seafarers and the children are relatively unstable at the stage of teenagers,under the collision of the two,there are many problems of parent-child relationship.Therefore,in this context,it is of far-reaching significance to help ocean seafarers solve the problem of parent-child relationship and improve parent-child relationship.This study uses group work in social work to help ocean seafarers and their children improve their parent-child relationship under the guidance of cognitive behavior theory and empowerment theory.In the preliminary preparation,the questionnaires and interviews are used to understand the current situation of parent-child relationship,and made it clear that the low attention paid to communication between parents and children of ocean going sailors,the weak awareness of emotional management between parents and children,and the seafarer’s long-term absence from home and missing the important growth stage of children are the main reasons for the problems of parent-child relationship,so as to design practical schemes according to the needs of ocean seafarers and children to improve parent-child relationship.Six group activities were designed to help the ocean seafarers and their children to understand their own problems and reflect on their own shortcomings,know the importance of parent-child communication for family bonding,learn communication skills,and improve their communication skills.Encourage the group members to promote and help each other,carry out reasonable emotional catharsis,enhance the ability of emotional management.On this basis,it can promote parent-child mutual understanding,increase the interaction and cooperation between parent-child,and improve parent-child relationship.In the activities,professional ethics and skills of social work are applied to guide the group members to conduct self-exploration and reflection,so as to provide a variety of interaction ways to increase the intimacy between the ocean seafarers and children.The research results show that through the development of group activities,parent-child group activities of ocean seafarers have practical value,effectively help ocean seafarers and children to improve the parent-child relationship,enhance the feelings between parents and children,and group activities build a good platform for parent-child interaction.This study uses group work to provide new research ideas for the improvement of parent-child relationship of ocean seafarers,and needs further improvement and reflection.
