Since the 21 st century,the development trend of globalization has become so strong that countries all over the world have gradually made the enhancement of international competitiveness and the enhancement of science and technology as their top priorities.In the field of higher education,the increasing awareness of science and technology and national quality cultivation has driven universities in various countries to compete for top-notch talents,and how to cultivate top-notch innovative talents has become a common problem faced by all countries.An important channel to cultivate top talents is honors education,which has become the main way to cultivate elite talents in western developed countries by virtue of its unique cultivation mode.In order to cultivate more top talents and improve the quality of talent training,China has introduced many policies related to cultivating top innovative talents since the beginning of the 21 st century,practicing the development strategy of strengthening the country with talents and devoting to cultivating a group of top talents in various industries that can enhance the level of national innovation.Therefore,this thesis takes Arizona State University in the United States as a case study to analyze its model of cultivating top innovative talents and summarize its cultivation characteristics and advantages,so as to gain useful reference from it and provide inspiration for further improvement of the cultivation model of top innovative talents in Chinese universities.This study contains a total of five parts.The introductory section focuses on the origin and meaning of the topic,the overview of research results,the definition of concepts,and the research approach.By referring to the literature on foreign honors education and the cultivation model of the U.S.top innovative talents,we define the core concepts of "honors education" and "top innovative talents",and explain in detail the cultivation model of the U.S.top innovative talents based on the talent cultivation process of Barrett Honors College.In addition,based on the talent cultivation process of the Barrett Honors College,the model of cultivating innovative talents in the United States is explained in detail.The first chapter briefly outlines the development of honor education in the United States,describing the political,economic and cultural background of each period as well as the landmark events and representative figures of each development stage,dividing it into budding,organizing and flourishing stages.Chapter 2focuses on a detailed analysis of the components of the cultivation model of the honors college of Arizona State University for the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents.Using the Barrett Honors College model of cultivating top-notch talent as a case study,it briefly explains its development overview,focusing on the college’s talent cultivation goals,admission and selection mechanism,honors curriculum system,talent cultivation methods and learning service mechanism.Chapter 3 is based on the talent development model of Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College,and outlines the characteristics embodied in its training objectives,training philosophy,training process,and overall model.The fourth chapter analyzes the inspiration of American honors education to the cultivation of top talents in China’s colleges and universities.It reflects on the shortcomings of the cultivation of outstanding talents in our colleges and universities,and provides suggestions for further improvement of the cultivation model of top innovative talents in China,including the implementation of an open and diversified selection method,the adoption of diversified teaching methods,the construction of an interdisciplinary curriculum system,and the optimization of a comprehensive learning support system,so as to explore the Chinese path of the cultivation of top talents. |
