Whether young or old, people’s lives are always related to games.Games not only bring people happiness, but also increase people’s respect and thinking about the rules. And this is necessary for everyone in the society.Today, the game has been called the Ninth Art.Compared with movies and novels, games have a unique feature of inter-activity.Compared with other works of art, readers experience the author’s story, and game players use their own hands to open their own stories. Therefore, the fascina-tion of games is everlasting, and the development of the game industry has also made game related research more and more important. In this research,we will analyze and discuss the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games(MMORPGs)’gaming experience for different players, and give suggestions.Since the development of video games, its content and format have been greatly changed compared to traditional games.MMORPGs,which originated from the board game Dungeons and Dragons, has experienced decades of development.Since the birth of World of Warcraft in 2004,MMORPG has begun to be a representative of online games. The purpose of this research is to analyze MMORPG.Not only the rules and goals of the game,MMORPGs provide players with a vast and exploreable game world. In this game, players can control their characters in the game world to freely choose game content to experience. The game content of MMORPG can be roughly divided into two parts:Player vs.Player(PVE)and Player vs.Player(PVP).The main content of PVE is quests system and instances. The main content of PVP is the battlefield and arena. In this research,we mainly focus on the PVE part of MMORPG.Different game players like different game contents.MMORPG gamers can be divided into four types:Achievers,Explorers,Socialisers and Killers[21].The fun of the game for Achievers and Explorers lies in interacting with the game world.Compared with the well-designed game world,Socialisers and Killers are more inclined to interact with players who are also humans. In this research,we mainly focus on the Achievers and Explorers.Game Refinement Theory is a game evaluation method based on game information progress model. This theory innovatively quantifies the uncertainty of the game.In the past research,Game Refinement Theory has analyzed board games, sports games, and some video games(such as dota),proving the validity and universality of the theory. The Motions In Mind Theory, derived from the Flow Theory and Game Refinement Theory, quantifies the mental movement of players in the game. These two theories allow us to intuitively analyze and compare the game experience of players, and make a great contribution to scientific analysis game.In this research,we mainly use these two theories as game analysis methods.Compared with past research, these two theories have few applications in the field of MMORPG.Expanding the application fields of these two theories is also one of the purposes of this research. This research selected Final Fantasy 14 which has been widely acclaimed in recent years as the specific experimental object.Through the analysis of the game contents that Achievers and Explorers are interested in,the game experience of these two players in different game versions is obtained. We have summarized the development of the game so far and made some suggestions. In conclusion, the purpose of this research is to develop games and the theory of game analysis. The development of the game industry promotes the deepening of the theory, and the theory provides guidance for the development of the game industry. We have a reason to make sure that Game Refinement Theory and Motions in Mind Theory will be applied to more game fields in the future and provide more help to the development of games.
