Comenius once said,“all knowledge begins with sensibility.” As an intuitive teaching method,teaching aids play an important role in teaching Chinese as a second language.Its intuitive and interesting characteristics can help teachers to enable students to acquire knowledge from the perceptual point of view,and make classroom activities go smoothly.In the teaching Chinese as a second language,The students with zero foundation,especially the children,have limited cognitive ability and the understanding of mother tongue is still in the basic stage.When learning the second language,we must use some forms of teaching means to assist teaching.Through the collection of existing papers and works,we find that there is little research on the use of teaching aids in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This paper is based on the practice of Chinese teaching in Thailand.The use of teaching aids by teachers in class is analyzed.The main research is from the following aspects.First of all,the introduction part,this paper elaborates from five aspects: purpose,research significance,research status,research methods and innovation.On the basis of the existing theoretical results,and according to the practice of Chinese teaching for children in Thailand’s Learning East school,the research contents and methods of this paper are determined.Thirdly,this paper introduces the school is introduced from four aspects: the reasons for its establishment,the nature and scale of the school,the number of Chinese teachers,the curriculum arrangement and the setting up.And elaborates the school teaching aids’ types,the use reasons and the sources.Based on the existing teaching aids,this paper discusses the process of making teaching aids and provides examples.Fourthly,on the basis of questionnaire survey and classroom observation,we find that there are some problems in the use of teaching aids in the current teaching of young children,such as the purpose of teaching aids is not clear,the choice of teaching aids in class is relatively single,and the use of teaching aids is too casual etcetera.In view of these problems,the application of teaching aids in each link is designed.Finally,based on the above research,this paper puts forward some suggestions on the use of teaching aids in teaching Chinese as a second language from the perspective of schools and teachers.
