Women’s Family Status,Educational Expectations And Family Children’s Education Costs

The improvement of women’s family status has changed the consumption and distribution of family resources.This thesis uses the data of the 2012-2018 China Family tracking Survey to establish a benchmark regression model based on the theory of joint family decision-making model.Taking the absolute difference in labor income of decision makers of family couples as a measure of women’s family status,empirical analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between women’s family status and their children’s education expenditure.In order to further study the influence transmission mechanism between the two,the intersection term of education level and educational expectations is set.It was found that when women’s family status benefited from their education level,women would pass on their own experience to their offspring.By raising educational expectations,the family’s investment in the education of children will be further increased.Through the comparative examination of the education expenditure of children of different genders,it was found that there is a gender preference in the transmission of women’s own experience,and the education expenditure of rural families is biased towards girls,and urban families are biased towards boys.In a further analysis of the impact mechanism,it was found that women’s education level and their time devoted to their children’s education will have an impact on family education expenditure.The research results of this thesis reveal the considerations and choices of Chinese parents when providing educational opportunities for their children.It enriches the research on the influencing factors of family children’s education expenditure,and can also provide certain suggestions for the formulation of policies to improve the basic literacy of the people.In order to adapt to economic development,the basic literacy of the people needs to be improved.The government can comprehensively consider the literacy improvement and employment security policies of married women.From the perspective of enhancing the status of women’s families,the quality of the children in the family will be further improved,and ultimately the literacy of the whole people will be improved.
