Left-behind children are a special group.Their parents are not around,their family education and academic issues have become a social topic that cannot be ignored.The expectation theory holds that individuals can change their methods and motivations by creating high educational expectations.Develop individual potential to achieve expected behavioral goals.They believe.the social capital passed to their children by parents through participation can provide them with more and better opportunities and enable them to obtain higher levels of educational achievement.Based on expectations theory and social capital theory,this explores the relationship between family education investment and children’s self-education expectations on the relationship between parents’ educational expectations and children’s academic performance.This study uses the China Education Tracking Survey(CEPS)2014-2015 school year student data for empirical analysis.The research results show that:(1)Parents’ educational expectations,family education investment,children’s self-education expectations and children’s academic performance have a significant influence relationship,And they are all positive predictions;(2)The mediation test results show that the mediation effect of education investment is significant,that is,the mediation effect of family education investment is established;the mediation effect of children’s self-education expectations is significant,that is,the mediation effect of children’s selfeducation expectations Established;the chain mediation effect of family education investment and children’s self-education expectations is significant,that is,the chain mediation effect of family education investment and children’s self-education expectations is established.Therefore,parents’ educational expectations can not only directly affect their children’s academic performance,but also affect the academic performance of leftbehind children through the intermediary effect of family education investment and self-education expectations.This research puts forward relative social work practical suggestions and suggestions on social policies.Arouse the attention of all sectors of the society to the academic expectations and academic achievements of left-behind healthy and happy growth of left-behind children,and jointly take positive actions to create a good social environment for the children.
