| In the new round of national basic curriculum education reform,the development and application of curriculum resources is one of the major directions of the new curriculum reform.The National Basic Education Curriculum Reform Outline(Trial)requires that in the process of developing curriculum resources,schools should give full play to the active role of various facilities,natural resources,social resources and information technology resources inside and outside the school,and have the authority and responsibility to reflect the problems encountered in implementing the national curriculum and local curriculum.The General High School Biology Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition Revised 2020)also clearly states that high school biology teachers should actively develop and utilize all resources that are conducive to the implementation of the curriculum.Among them,local curriculum resources are very important to develop as an important support to carry out the local curriculum.Qinzhou City,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,is a seaside city with unique geographical features and ecological resources,and its local culture has been inherited and developed to a certain extent,which provides a huge space for the development of local curriculum resources for high school biology.What measures can be taken to further make full use of the local curriculum resources into high school biology teaching is investigated in this paper.In this way,we hope to provide a reference for how to make the national unified textbooks applicable to different regions and develop local curriculum resources that meet local realities.Firstly,fieldwork,questionnaire and interview methods were used to investigate the current situation of the application of local curriculum resources in high school biology teaching in Qinzhou City.The investigation was mainly conducted in the following three aspects: first,the second middle school in Qinzhou City was used as the research object,and questionnaires were distributed to its students.The results showed that most students did not know about local curriculum resources,and many of them even did not know what local biology had.As for the application of local curriculum resources,most students had a positive attitude and also hoped that teachers could carry out teaching with local resources.Second,two schools with different levels and educational philosophies,Qinzhou No.2 Middle School and Qinzhou No.4 Middle School,were contacted and their biology teachers were interviewed.The results of the interviews showed that the biology teachers in both schools were more or less involved in the development of local curriculum resources,most of which were in a single form and mainly used to develop school-based curriculum.In contrast,Qinzhou Second Middle School was the school with relatively more results in local curriculum resources development,but its teachers indicated that many times they could not successfully apply local curriculum resources in their teaching,and they also made some comments about it.Third,the local resources available in Qinzhou City were collected and analyzed to find local curriculum resources that could be applied to teaching high school biology.Through reading literature related to Qinzhou cultural studies and fieldwork in various natural scenic spots,museums,parks,and science and technology museums in Qinzhou City,we found that there are many natural resources and out-of-schools that can be combined into high school biology teaching,and we organized them into a unified table.This paper also records the application process of some of these resources in teaching practice,and it has been well received by teachers and students in the internship school.The survey found that the development and application of biology local curriculum resources in Qinzhou City are not yet adequate,and there are still problems in several aspects such as teachers’ enthusiasm in applying local curriculum resources,reflection on teaching after applying local curriculum resources,and unified management of local curriculum resources.Based on the results of the survey,and based on theories related to curriculum resource development,this study proposes five major development principles of distinctiveness,adaptability,diversity,guidance,and economy for the development of biology local curriculum resources in Qinzhou City,as well as four specific application strategies and related suggestions for using local biology curriculum resources to enrich the teaching material system,design biology experiments,organize off-campus research,and integrate the knowledge system.After investigating,collecting and organizing the local resources in Qinzhou City,they are integrated with the contents in the unified high school biology textbook for readers’ easy reference.This paper designed and put into practice a case study on the application of local curriculum resources in Qinzhou in high school biology teaching,which was overall approved and supported by students and other teachers.It was found that the integration of local curriculum resources in teaching not only expanded students’ knowledge,deepened their understanding of biological concepts,enhanced their enthusiasm for learning biology and their comprehensive use of knowledge,but also enabled them to exercise their scientific thinking and scientific inquiry skills,and improved their core literacy in biology. |
