| Since the 21 st century,China’s secondary vocational education has adhered to a service-oriented and employment-oriented approach to schooling, with rapid career development, increasing scale, continuing reforms, and significant improvements in quality and efficiency, coupled with the increasingly fierce market competition that has made it necessary for vocational education to proactively and positively improve its development strategies, vocational education has burst into life and vitality thanks to the addition of competition mechanisms.2022 In the third session of the Ministry of Education’s New Year conference on 23 February to introduce the work related to promoting the high-quality development of modern vocational education,Director General Chen Ziji proposed to promote the diversified development of secondary vocational education. It has become an urgent need for the development of secondary vocational education to open up space for secondary students to develop,so that they can gain competence in employment, advantages in further education and channels for development.Ecology is a discipline that deals with the interaction between living organisms and their environment. It is a long-established and dynamic discipline that has crossed disciplinary boundaries to include politics, economics, law, education and other areas, and has formed a paradigm for research. However, research on secondary vocational education from an ecological perspective is relatively weak and still in its infancy, and there is a lack of systematic research on the meaning of diversity in secondary vocational education, the identification of its elements, the analysis of its current situation, and the development strategies to promote diversity in secondary vocational education, which is what this paper focuses on.This paper mainly uses literature research method and case study method, based on ecological theories such as ecological niche theory and posture theory and pedagogical theories such as educational competition theory,to study the ecological tiers of secondary vocational schools in Guangxi, ecological factors affecting the development of secondary vocational education in Guangxi, the real situation of diversified development of secondary vocational schools at each tier in Guangxi and the path suggestions that can be referred to in the future. To address the issue of diversified development of secondary vocational education in Guangxi, this paper first provides a basic overview, clarifies the background and significance of the study, summarizes the current situation and review of the study, identifies the research ideas and framework, and finds the research methods and innovations. This is followed by a definition of concepts and theoretical foundations. Some key concepts in pedagogy and ecology that have been used in this paper are defined, while the theoretical foundations are indicated.Again, the ecological hierarchy of secondary vocational education in Guangxi is analysed, placing the current secondary vocational schools in Guangxi into an ecological perspective for research and analysis.Secondary vocational schools are put into the educational ecosystem using the concept of ecology and analysed at four levels:individual, population, community and ecosystem, while the ecological factors affecting the development of secondary vocational schools are identified and the competition and symbiosis between secondary vocational schools are described. It also draws ecological lessons from the direction of development of secondary vocational schools in Guangxi towards diversification. From the second, the current situation and initiatives of secondary vocational schools at the county, municipal and autonomous levels in Guangxi are categorised and discussed through specific cases, summarising the existing development paths and initiatives. Finally, countermeasures and suggestions for the diversified development of secondary vocational education in Guangxi are discussed and suggested at the level of the educational ecosystem, the population level and the individual level respectively.Synthesizing the above studies, this paper draws on the theory of ecology to find possible solutions to the main problems of secondary vocational education, such as funding, enrolment and teachers. However, this paper mainly focuses on secondary vocational schools in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and not much has been written about the development status of secondary vocational schools outside the region. |
