Cultivating students’ interdisciplinary ability is an urgent requirement of social development for innovative talents in the new era,and is the main focus of all countries. Therefore, more and more researchers recognize the value of interdisciplinary ability for social development in the new era.How to organize students’ mathematics learning effectively to cultivate students’ interdisciplinary ability remains a problem to be studied. How to organize students’ interdisciplinary ability to learn? According to the current problems and combining with the actual teaching, this study tries to construct a project learning model to cultivate the students’ interdisciplinary ability.First of all, this study uses literature analysis to sort out the research status of mathematical interdisciplinary ability and project learning.Based on the questionnaire, this paper investigates the present situation of students’ interdisciplinary ability performance in a middle school in Nanning, and then tests the students’ interdisciplinary ability development level. Finally, the effect of project-based teaching on mathematical interdisciplinary ability of junior high school students is studied in order to explore the effect of project-based learning. The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Establish a research framework for interdisciplinary competencies. The performance of interdisciplinary ability can be examined from three aspects:knowledge reserve, problem analysis and practical application;(2)To be informed of the development of interdisciplinary competencies in mathematics among ninth graders. The results of the questionnaire show that the ninth grade students are lack of knowledge in interdisciplinary problems, their thinking is rather narrow, they lack good sense of cooperation and communication. The results show that the students have good ability of information translation and problem solving, but poor ability of knowledge integration and reflection and evaluation.(3)Build project-based Learning Model: Select Project: Motivate,Create Situation.Plan: Clarify the problem and generate assumptions.Cooperative exploration: scientific grouping, rational division of labor.Production: Monitor progress and share ideas.Show and exchange: share the results, exchange experiences.Project evaluation: multiple evaluation, reward and punishment.Transfer application:master new knowledge, learn to transfer.(4)The experimental results of project-based learning teaching show that project-based learning is helpful to cultivate students’ interdisciplinary ability. In the dimension of information translation and knowledge integration, the experimental class is obviously better than the control class, and there is little difference between the two classes. There are obvious differences between the post-test results of the experimental class and the control class, which shows that the project-based learning model helps to cultivate students’ interdisciplinary ability.
