As one of the highlights and implementation difficulties of the Compulsory Education History Curriculum Standards(2022 Edition),the main purpose of interdisciplinary thematic learning is to realize the organic connection between disciplines and strengthen the degree of integration of the curriculum,which also influences the direction of history curriculum reform to a certain extent.In this context,how to design and implement the history interdisciplinary theme learning curriculum has also become a concern for the majority of front-line teachers.This paper explores the value of the project-based learning model in the history interdisciplinary theme-based learning curriculum and the design of the curriculum,taking the history interdisciplinary theme-based learning curriculum as the research object.Firstly,we investigate the current situation of the implementation of this curriculum based on the concept of "interdisciplinary theme-based learning curriculum",and analyze the difficulties of designing and implementing history interdisciplinary theme-based learning curriculum at four levels: curriculum,school,teachers,and students.Secondly,a systematic explanation of "project-based learning" is given,and the concept and theoretical basis of project-based learning are clarified.Then,by analyzing the application value of project-based learning in history interdisciplinary themes,we identify four advantages of project-based learning,namely,it meets the characteristics of history interdisciplinary theme learning courses,it helps to play a coordinating role in learning,it helps to develop teachers’ interdisciplinary literacy and concepts,and it helps to ensure students’ motivation and personal development,and we argue that project-based learning can,to a certain extent,solve the problems of implementing history interdisciplinary themes.It is argued that project-based learning can,to a certain extent,solve the difficulties of implementing the four dimensions of interdisciplinary thematic learning in history.Finally,the curriculum design strategies and ideas of project-based learning applied to history interdisciplinary theme learning are discussed in detail,and the design ideas of history interdisciplinary theme learning projects are: building an interdisciplinary project community,creating a special theme together,reconstructing the interdisciplinary content under the theme,designing the project implementation process,and designing a diversified evaluation.
