Since 2006,the "Reading for All" campaign has been continuously carried out in various places, with continuous enrichment, scale and influence.Nowadays, the construction of "bookish society" and "scholarly family" has gradually made reading a social fashion, and reading habits and reading ability are important manifestations of national quality, which need to be grasped from an early age.At present, electronic products occupy most of people’s time, and people’s time and energy for reading are decreasing.School-age children are a large social group and they are at the best reading age.Children in this period already have an initial understanding of reading.Their language development is faster, their emotions are changeable, the time and scope of attention will gradually increase, and they have certain cognitive abilities. This study attempts to design reading activities from the perspective of social work according to the characteristics of school-age children’s growth,so as to stimulate reading interest, meet reading needs, and improve reading ability. This study took school-age children in Y community in Guiyang City as the research object, took social learning theory and social support theory as the theoretical basis, and qualitative research as the main research method. In the early stage, through questionnaire surveys and interviews,we learned about the current reading status of school-age children in Y community, which was mainly reflected in four aspects: reading awareness, reading time, reading behavior and reading preference.According to these aspects, further analysis of the reading problems of school-age children shows that school-age children have problems such as failure to develop good reading habits, insufficient mastery of reading skills, lack of reading companionship, and low participation in reading activities, and school-age children themselves, families and communities are the main factors affecting this problem.Based on the current situation and existing problems of school-age children’s reading, this study used group work methods to promote the formation of good reading habits of school-age children, enhance parents’ reading companionship, stimulate school-age children’s interest in reading, and master basic reading skills. The study found that the use of group work methods has improved the reading ability of school-age children to a certain extent, but there are still shortcomings in the process of activities that need to be reflected. |
