Reading takes the main part in Chinese teaching But till now,the situation that it costs too much but gain too little hasn't been solved completely. Reading ability is a basic and leading one in one's whole life .It is showed clearly in the standard of New Course that developing the students'particular reading ability,emphasizing personal reading and stimulating the experience of the students and the knowledge accumulation can obtain particular feeling and experience in activeand positive activities of thinking and feeling.The teaching that the students are forced to read can't adapt to the develapment of the times or advance the futher study of the students.The key to transforming the reading teaching is to bring their positive factor into play and fully give the rein to their zeal.Self-reading not only stimulates the students' enthusiasm but also tally with the teaching law.But how can we put it into practice ?what should we do and pay attention to?The paper gives two ways to discuss in theory and practice.
