| In real life,junior high school students will encounter a variety of natural or man-made negative events,such as the COVID-19,earthquake,car accident,family death,campus bullying,interpersonal tension,etc.These negative events will form negative memories in the mind for a long time,which will bring negative psychological effects to junior high school students.Over time,it is easy to produce negative emotions such as anxiety,impulse,sadness,and even induce anxiety disorders,depression,post-traumatic stress disorder and other psychological diseases.How to better forget negative memories plays an important role in the maintenance of mental health of junior high school students.In real life,it is not difficult to find that some junior high school students are always optimistic about things and easy to forget negative events completely,while some are obsessed with many things and difficult to forget.Individual differences may affect the motivated forgetting of negative memories.Resilience is a relatively stable personality trait.Individuals with different levels of resilience have very different ways and states in dealing with negative events.Compared with individuals with low resilience,individuals with high resilience have better negative memory motivated forgetting ability,which needs further study.Therefore,this study explores the effect of resilience on the motivated forgetting of negative memory in junior high school students.Study 1 used the questionnaire survey method to explore the relationship between psychological resilience and memory active inhibition ability,and to test whether the memory motivated forgetting ability of individuals with high psychological resilience in junior high school is stronger than that of individuals with low psychological resilience.Study 2 used two directed forgetting experiments to explore the effect of psychological resilience on directed forgetting of different emotional materials.The experiment adopted the project-based directed forgetting paradigm,with vocabulary and pictures as experimental materials,and adopts a mixed experimental design of 2(instruction : remember,forget)×2(material type : neutral word / picture,negative word / picture)×2(group : high resilience group,low resilience group)to explore the directed forgetting effect of individuals with different levels of resilience on negative vocabulary materials and negative picture materials.The results of Study 1 show that there is a significant positive correlation between psychological resilience and memory active inhibition ability.Individuals with high psychological resilience have stronger memory motivated forgetting ability than individuals with low psychological resilience.The results of Experiment 1 showed that individuals with high and low resilience had directed forgetting effect on vocabulary materials.Junior high school students with high resilience had stronger motivated forgetting ability for negative words than junior high school students with low resilience,but there was no significant difference between groups.The results of Experiment 2 showed that individuals with high and low resilience had directed forgetting effect on picture materials.The motivated forgetting ability of junior high school students with high resilience level to negative pictures was significantly stronger than that of junior high school students with low resilience level,and the motivated forgetting ability of negative memory was stronger.The results show that there are differences in the motivated forgetting of negative memory among junior high school students with different levels of resilience.On the whole,the motivated forgetting ability of junior high school students with high resilience level is stronger than that of junior high school students with low resilience level.This study found that individuals with high resilience can inhibit the intrusion of negative memories with a more positive attitude due to their richer personal resources and good anti-frustration ability,which to some extent shows that the motivated forgetting of negative memories has positive significance.This study suggests that when junior high school students encounter negative events,we should pay attention to improving the level of individual psychological resilience and improving their ability to actively forget negative memories,so as to better forget negative memories. |
