Research On The Framework Of People’s Daily’s Coverage Of Beijing Winter Olympics

The successful hosting of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is of great significance.As a representative of mainstream media.People’s Daily has guided the national media for its coverage of the Beijing Winter Olympics.Therefore,this paper selects 619 news reports of the Beijing Winter Olympics from People’s Daily as research samples,takes the framework theory as the basis,mainly uses the content analysis method to study the reporting framework,summarize advanced experience,and provide suggestions for future Winter Olympics coverage.This paper uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the global,medium and local framework of People’s Daily’s Beijing Winter Olympics coverage,and finds that:In terms of global frameworks,People’s Daily uses three global frameworks,namely the framework of hosting and evaluation,the framework of the Olympic spirit,and the framework of China’s proposition.Through these global frameworks,People’s Daily shows China’s great power style in the new era and the spirit of Chinese people to surpass themselves and struggle hard,and transmits the Chinese wisdom of"Together for a Shared Future" to the world.In terms of medium frameworks,the structure of People’s Daily Winter Olympics coverage is mainly based on the main event framework and evaluation framework;In terms of the form of reporting,it is mainly written reports;In terms of the length of the Winter Olympics report,most of the length is about 1,000 words;The main coverage is the special edition of the Olympic Games and important news;News sources are mainly People’s Daily reporters.In terms of local frameworks,People’s Daily used a large number of positive words to define the Beijing Winter Olympics,and used the discourse strategy of "difficulty,response,and gain" to connect personal dreams with the Chinese dream,link China’s road and China’s proposition with world peace and development,internally inspire the masses to work hard and build the motherland,externally expound the proposition of a human community with a shared future,and advocate "the whole world is one family".In addition,this paper also compares and analyzes the report of 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games and the report of Winter Olympic Games by People’s Daily,and finds that the report of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games breaks through the binary narrative frame of "Eastern and Western civilization" and shapes a more rational view of sports and gold medal.Finally,this paper argues that the main reasons for the formation of the framework of People’s Daily’s coverage of the Beijing Winter Olympics are the increasingly complex reality,the increasingly rational mentality of the people and the adherence to the principle of Party spirit.This article thinks that it is necessary to strengthen the construction of talent team of Winter Olympics,integrate into the whole media communication system and report sports news in depth.
